Good Cohen covers

Obviously Buckley's version of 'Hallelujah' is spectacular. But has anyone heard Tori Amos' version of 'Famous Blue Raincoat'? It's on a tribute album called Tower of Song.
IMHO it is up there with Jeff Buckley's cover of 'Hallelujah'.
Anyone else know of any other good Cohen covers?

Bono's version of Hallelujah is pretty cool as well

I enjoy Dax Riggs of DeadBoy and The Elephantmen's version of Famous Blue Raincoat and also Tower of Song.

Just to add, that Teddy Thompson's version of Tongiht will be Fine is amazing, and more profound than Leonard's original

Just wanted to agree with the Original poster - the Tori Amos version of Famous Blue Raincoat is absolutely sublime - truly beautiful and one of the best covers of anything by anyone I've yet heard.

1st John Cale -Hallelujah
2nd Rufus Wainwright- Hallelujah
3rd anyone singing Hallelujah like they mean it,
4th Antony singing If it Be Your Will, I was crying when I heard him sing it in the movie (I'm your man) it looked like he was getting a bit misty too and I can't say as I ever liked the slow Leonard version recorded live.

Yeah, Teddy Thompson is very good! And I agree his cover of "Tonight Will Be Fine" is definitely better than Cohen's. And I almost never consider a Cohen cover better than the original.

Dax Riggs does some great covers. Search Limewire for:
Famous Blue Raincoat
Tower Of Song
Night Comes On
Tonight Will Be Fine
Chelsea Hotel
I'm Your Man

He does many other great covers of other artists such as:
Nick Cave
Bonnie Prince Billy
Rolling Stones

Jennifer Warnes whole album of Cohen covers (Famous Blue Raincoat) is one of my favourites, while some songs are not that great the version of Joan Of Arc where the man himself does a duet is simply fantastic !

I think both Rufus Wainright's cover of "Chelsea Hotel" and Judy Collins' cover of "Take This Longing" are better than the originals.

Obviously that was one of the most commercially successful Cohen covers of all and I'm afraid the Rufus Wainwright cover from the concert with its stupid Latin Matriarchy band sound was an insult to this great ballad.

Yes, Tim Buckley's "Hallelujah" is the hallmark of Cohen covers, but Jennifer Warnes' "Famous Blue Raincoat" is an excellent album. The "Tower of Song" and "I'm Your Fan" tribute album have some great covers as well, along with some forgettable ones, but Jennifer's is a gem all the way through.
