What other 'teacher' stories are there?

"Music of the Heart"... "Dangerous Minds" um... what else?

I liked this movie. It seemed very different than most of the other movies. I watched it twice last night. I like this one because he teaches elementary school kids. I like his teaching methods too.

***SPOILER (just in case)****
I really like how he dealt with Shamieka (?) cutting in line and applying that to "We are a family" rule. He said he was proud of her for doing the right thing. And later on when he expressed to her mom that Shamieka has great potential. And there's plenty more but I'd be here much longer telling what I liked about this movie.

I gave this a 10 out of 10. There's nothing I would change about this movie. It's amazing.

I have watched all the ones mentioned here, and loved them. I would also mention "Teachers", with Nick Nolte. A pretty good movie but I was also an extra in it. So, I guess I am a little biased.

I must admit I really liked To Sir with Love. I also read the book and it was excellent. I liked this movie too. These type of movies certainly give the feel good factor.

i have always loved "The man without a face" starring Mel Gibson, not a school, just a single student... great movie thought.

The Ron Clark Story is such an amazing movie that makes you want to never give up...another movie that good with dealing with this topic is "Music of the Heart" staring Meryl Streep she was amazing in the movie and she too struggles with inner-city students but she teaches them violin and so much more:)

I stole a quote to use in my own classroom from School of Life.
RR's character tells a student when the student is caught looking at the clock
"That clock can't help you"

Freedom Writers (Hillary Swank, Patrick Dempsey [love])

Man, I love all the leading guys in all these movies with "teachers"
Matthew Perry, Antonio Banderas, McDreamy albeit he was a minor character.

School of Life was a good movie. I watched it when it premiered on (i think it was...) ABC Family. All I remember is that it did have a sad twist to it tho.

Pay It Forward was a good one.

B ut most school movies might as well be science fiction. They are almost all either too out of control or too Leave It To Beaver.

All of the above plus this one I saw last year and read the story in Readers' Digest a year or more ago.
"Knights of the South Bronx"-A teacher teaches in one of the toughest schools in NYC. He decides to get the kids who are average 10 years old into chess. One of the kids has a 5 year old brother who comes into the classroom after he is out of kindergarten for the day and also learns chess. Based on a true story. The kids become chess whizzes. Boys, girls, and little brother. It's incredible how these kids grow in self-esteem and learning.

"Teachers" has been one of my favorites for years. Although it is like comedy it shows how pathetic school has become as far as "policy" goes in education.
