Why do people think Iranians are a separate race??

Iranians are related to Europeans gentically and linguistically. And most are Caucasians. This magical notion that the arbitrarily drawn borders of Europe serve as solid racial boundries is total nonsense.

Well depends how far back in time you want to go, because Technically every human being is related as we are all originate from the same group of people who left Africa around 60-50,000 years ago. So the sooner the human race forgets about all this different religion and race rubbish that only accomplished 3 things in deluding, dividing and controlling people, then we could all move on and become a better species for it.

But still, couldn't they just find Iranian actors for these roles? It doesn't sit well with me that they cast Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton when there were plenty of Iranian actors who were fully capable of playing their parts. Why couldn't they get Golshifteh Farahani or Naznin Boniadi? It's not like there's a shortage of Iranian actors, so I don't really want to hear that excuse.

Maybe because Iran, and the rest of the Middle Eastern countries aren't in Europe? And that the Caucasian race is usually associated to the people of the European continent. Obviously you should know that.

Granted, there are light skinned Middle Eastern people (I am one - light skin/olive borderline, if you will) but a good number of us are between olive skinned to slightly tan colour (this applies to southern Europeans).

And yes, Iranians are Caucasian (as most of the Middle Eastern people). But like I said, people would usually think that only Europeans are, or those possessing very light features (light hair, blue/green eyes).

It happens in Asia also. The Japanese, Chinese and Koreans all think they are separate 'pure' races, despite the fact that for hundreds of years they were invading one another, beating the crap out of one another and raping one another's women.... thus 'muddying' the waters so to speak.

Very true. ALL Asians belong to subgroups of the Mongoloid race.
