"Clean and Sober'. By a mile. I still remember the scene where he's at his desk at work, long after the place has closed and everyone else has gone home. He desperately needs money and calls his folks to wheedle some out of them. All you hear is his end of the conversation and its so well written and well acted you can see the squirming he's doing inside as his shame and guilt fall victim to his hustler's need for cash.
By well written I mean that his responses to what his parents are supposedly saying to him from their end let you know that they know he's got a serious problem. But they're too worried about his survival to say no to his demands. Its heartwrenching to watch, and the movie ends up being almost a 3 person play, with great performances by Kathy Baker and Morgan Freeman. I think this movie was less popular than it should have been because it hit too close to home for too many people.
