911 is too boring?

This movie was pretty much what I expected. I just think 911 was just too boring of a moment in history to be made into a good movie. I think a fictional conspiracy theory type movie about 911 staring Nicolas Cage would be more entertaining.

A Nic Cage conspiracy movie would've been fantastic.

But I also think a realistic movie focusing on survivors trying to get out of the buildings could be an intense, harrowing cinematic experience. Not to trivialize the events, of course, but to show it for real. No conspiracies. Just people surviving. Even documentaries about it get to me.

I always thought a Conspiracy Thriller on 9/11 would be an interesting story to develop, what with another Oliver Stone film, JFK, having done such a thing, and it did well on release.

I being a writer, I thought of developing my own take on what it could be: I have looked to JFK, The Parallax View and All the President's Men as influences to the plot structure, focusing on a female reporter launching her own investigation into the attacks, picking up the minor clues, such as the mysterious death of key eyewitnesses, and eventually uncovers the big conspiracy, and the motives for it. I gonna try to get such minor topics such as Operation Northwoods and JFK into the story, as well. Am also trying to have the main character visiting the 9/11 Memorial as it opens up, and feature the new WTC1 (Freedom Tower) being built throughout, almost like a clock ticking in the background as her investigation builds up.

I would start the film off in much the same way as JFK - With a montage of the ensuing years before 9/11, such as George H.W. Bush's "One World Government" speech, before showing the primary attacks and the public's reactions to it, and go into the aftermath showing Bush's "War on terror" speech and the passing of the Patriot Act on the TV, before cutting to a couple years later and kicking the main plot into motion.

It's mostly in outline form, but it's something I've been interested in for a long while, and I believe the story around 9/11 could potentially make a great Conspiracy Thriller.

You're as much of a writer as I am the pope.

“I being a writer”?!

No. You are not.

I agree. Too much time in the dark. I'd spend more time before the attacks, to give the characters more life. I'd go into the lives of the office workers, janitors, security people. Etc. Then have the attacks. Then the rescue.

9/11 too boring? Maybe it's that you're too stupid.
