I don't think Daniel ever forgave Eli for being a minor inconvenience for him when he tried to buy his father's land
And I think it was the main reason, moreso than the sermon, for what happens at the end
shareI don't know, they were in a power struggle throughout a lot of the movie, they both seemed to see through each other...there seemed to be a lot more under the surface there.
