Wouldn't it be actually very normal to have white teachers for black students in America, considering the fact that whites (and Asians) outnumber, to a significant degree, the number of black ppl who get university degrees (last I read anyway).

I'm assuming of course that you need a uni degree to teach in the USA...

I grew up in Detroit and went to a predominately black school. Most of my classes the only white people would be me and the teacher. The fact of the matter is that inner city public schools Always need teachers. The turnover is high. At times teachers who got laid off from surrounding counties can only find work in inner city schools. My history teacher was actually from Virginia. She move to Detroit because the pay for teachers were better and the work was more steady than I was in Virginia.

It isn't uncommon. Becoming a teacher in America is mostly about jumping through a bunch of credential hoops, and blacks aren't very good at that so white teachers outnumber black teachers by a margin even greater than population percentages would dictate. Furthermore, black ghettos produce almost no qualified candidates for a teaching position, so almost all their teachers need to be imported from other areas (that are likely not black ghettos). Whites generally don't want to teach in black neighborhoods, but if they are desperate for a job or the type that feels it is "noble" or "exciting" to teach in dangerous hell holes they'll take the job. And there are enough of those types that a significant portion of teachers even black ghettos will be white.

It depends where you live.

I'm feeling rough, I'm feeling raw, I'm in the prime of my life.
