Is it typical in America for black kids to have a white teacher?

That's just how it is really. I was born in the inner city of Chicago and went to school there until I was 10 & until my parents got me out of there. All of the teachers I had to that point were white. There are numerous reasons why white teachers go to the inner cities to teach. Whether it be they feel like they need to "give back", they feel bad, or because it will look good on their resume that they took a such a strenuous job for a few years.

Not all Black people live in the "inner city" so it would be perfectly normal for suburban Black kids to have a White teacher. And... sometimes White children have Black teachers!

Or they're just offering a decent education to people who otherwise, living in a bad area, might not get it.

Depends on where in the country.

Look up "Teach for America."

Because they kids are somewhere in the ghetto burks of New York City, and they tend to have more black and Hispanics. The teachers sometimes can't control what school they work at so I guess they get assigned by the Board of Ed.

I can only assume you are not from a country that has more than one ethnicity, because that really has got to be the most stupidest question I have ever heard.

So are you saying only black teachers should teach black students? Teachers from any background should just teach students from any background in my opinion.

They are in America do you know anything about the place? Maybe read up on American history a bit, and see how they have developed and where they are now in the 21st century.

Furthermore its Brooklyn New York; have you any idea how many ethnicities live there? to suggest that because it's an inner city area, that no white teachers would be found there? Come on it's New York; you sound like you are an advocate of segregation, I am just stunned.

What a rude response.

I didn't pick up that the person was suggesting anything that you posted. He/she was simply curious.

Most of the teachers I had from 2001-2008 were white. From grade 6-12. I live in New York.
Teachers probably don't get to choose which schools they work at.
