So many problems with the pregnancies?!

So why are there so many miscarriages/problem pregnancies in this movie? The original Queen Katharine has multiple miscarriages, Mary doesnt miscarry but she bleeds in bed and is bed-ridden for months due to some sort of problem, and Anne miscarries her 2nd child...I realize that back then they did not have vitamins and great medicinal care like we do now, but even still, is it that hard for a woman to carry a child totally naturally? I don't get it.

I have a fetish for Mafia men...is that wrong?

Did the Royal women while pregnant drink during there Kings great feasts? Maybe that could be another factor? Any evidence of the knowledge that wine or alcohol had effects during the pregnant term.

Not only royal women drank.....normal women too especially as water was more dangerous at times than alcohol. This doesn't mean they where all alcoholics loosing their babies due to alcohol.
The problems with pregnancies where just the same as they are now but now we have better healthcare...that's it...not necessarily due to unsanitary conditions.
Many of my friends with babies would have died in the sixteenth century. Only two births of friends with no problems..the others all had problems solved by competent doctors.
Pregnancy and birth are a dangerous business, then and now...
