Soy Sauce

I would like to ask any doctors, paramedics, biologists, nurses, etc. What would really happen to a person who mainlines a few cc's of soy sauce?

(Please excuse me if this has already been asked)

An epidemiologist friend of mine who loves Push always complains about the soy sauce thing. She absolutely insists injecting soy sauce into one's vein would have deadly consequences.

I have a theory about why Nick survived it. We've seen that when Hook works his shifting magic items transform. The paper becomes real money, the red suitcase becomes black, the glass bottle becomes a syringe, etc. So it doesn't really seem logical that everything would transform except the soy sauce. Nick knew he would be injecting the fake drug so I'm sure he told Hook to make sure he didn't really inject soy sauce and Hook must have shifted the soy sauce into something that was actually safe to inject.

The only flaw with this theory is that whatever was in that syringe would eventually turn back to soy sauce but perhaps by then it would be evenly disturbed throughout his bloodstream and not be as dangerous?

Not a doctor or any other type of medical professional, but I've heard that (example given to me was eggs) if you inject egg yolk in to the muscle, into the body, and then later consume eggs at a meal, your body will react as though you're deathly allergic to eggs, and will kill you... Or something like that...
