I really love to watch films like Rescue Dawn where it include imprison, escape and survival... I've watch a similar movies such as The Way Back where it also feature related scenario... Are there any other great movies that have similar style(Not necessary comprising capture,escape and survival), maybe just survival such as Into the Wild, The Snow Walker or The Road... or some great escape movies like Shawshank or Papillon for example... If there are any suggestions please comment .... Thanks...

Hart's War is pretty good. Stars Bruce Willis and Colin Farrell. Also Bat 21 starring Gene Hackman is very good. Escape From Alcatraz starring Clint Eastwood. Of course, one of the best films of all time, The Shawshank Redemption starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.

Have you seen Deliverance with John Voight and Burt Reynolds ? It is about survival in the nature and in my opinion also directed in a more realistic way (like Rescue Dawn) than most holywood films.

"the Great Escape" and "Escape from Sobibor" come to mind.

First Blood is a good capture, escape, survival movie. As for all around survival, the best in my mind is Jeremiah Johnson.

When I first saw this movie, I thought it was a remake of "Missing in Action 2: The Beginning".

I am surprised that no one mentioned The Deer Hunter, with Robert de Niro and Christopher Walken. If you like Rescue Dawn, not so much for the action as for the movie`s theme or premiss, then The Deer Hunter might blow you away.

Warning: the Vietnam part starts not until one hour into the movie.
