Steve Zahn is a better actor than Christian Bale! PERIOD

Steve Zahn was so good in this movie, playing a soldier in shellshock and the fear in his eyes was so believable. On the other hand Christian Bale's character didn't do it for me, he wasn't realistic at all and lacked the appropriate emotional responses. He's just a bad actor in my opinion. It's almost like he rushes his performances because he can't wait until the movie is over so he can cash in his check.

It's a shame that actors like Steve Zahn aren't offered better roles and then there are actors like Christian Bale who gets leading roles like 'Batman' and 'John Connor' because of his chizzled appearance. He doesn't deserve his celebrity, he treats his own mother like dirt and downgrades movie crews for not doing their job right, pfff he's the one who can't act and has no soul. Simply put - I hate Christian Bale and you should too!

It's hard to--actually impossible to--take anything you say seriously after "chizzled." Really? Like someone crafted his face with a chizzle?

If you can't spell the word, or at least get in the ballpark, don't write it.

You do realise that Bale's mother had absolutely nothing to do with his life up until that "incident"? So it seems pretty clear that she was being a complete money grabbing twat. Maybe read up abit before you post this stupid *beep*

I couldn't stand Sahara with Zahan, what a terrible movie, I just stopped it. Bale is better. However this is probably Zahan's best performance, he did well.

Bale is the better actor, but both of them are great. One big point that I'd like to mention is that Steve Zahn is one of the few actors that I've seen that can pull off drama and comedy. I haven't seen Bale do that, he's mostly relegated to drama.

Thanks for all the opinions, many people seem to like Bale's phoniness, BRAVO!

I haven't watched Terminator Salvation yet, I refused to pay premium + popcorn at the theatre. I'll just wait until it comes to Blockbuster then rip the DVD..lol

The hell you talking about! Christian Bale was *beep* good in the Batman movies...out of all the other Batman movies...this movie lived up to the Batman expectation. Bale was a serious actor portraying Batman as a dark conscience person without the mask and with the mask on. I stop reading your comment when you say "He doesn't deserve his celebrity"...doesn't deserve it? He put serious effort in his character and acted professional in his movies...just to show he doesn't give a rat ass about money.

how can you say "Steve Zahn is a better actor than Christian Bale! PERIOD"?

shouldn't it be "Steve Zahn is a better actor than Christian Bale EXLCAMATION POINT!"?

I bought this film while visiting NY in 2007 on the fantastic reviews that it received on Rotten Tomatoes. Now I am a fan of Werner Herzog, but this film left me very disappointed. The directing and cinematography was average in my opinion. Apart from Steve Zahn realistic and moving performance this would be a Channel Five TV film really...

I like Christian Bale, he was good in American Psycho, good in Batman Begins. But he was unrealistic, overacting and just plain annoying in this feature (like Dark Knight). And the ending.......my god it was so cheesy and typical American rubbish!!!

mmgemini2, you need to find the 'Caps Lock' button. It's underneath the tab button, and above the shift button. I hope this helps.

This is an absolutely horrid thread. I have seen Rescue Dawn on more than one occasion. The OP of this thread is bloody stupid! Here's a person who is not a professional critic nor a professional actor, as is Bale. Since when does anyone have to believe your utter gibberish?

Like one poster said, the directors don't hire this guy in big roles for nothing!

Steve Zahn has been in some HORRENDOUS movies. Directors want actors who will guarentee a films success. Not alot of people know his name. Bale on the other hand has acted in ALOT of sucessful films, and is an actor in which everyone will recognise. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past decade or so.
