Supernatural movie is a possibility after series ends, says producer

"I'm certainly not ruling it out."

I think many of us saw this coming, and a huge relief they've admitted its now possible and closer than we think. Spin-off seems out of the question now though. So at least in the future we will have something to look forward too once it finishes. Jensen a while back was hoping for a few mini type series like blocks of six/eight episodes. I wonder if this might happen a few years later?

This might sound selfish, but Supernatural is TOO GOOD to have a spinoff. Some shows are branched off to have spinoffs, but Supernatural is not a show for that. Bloodlines couldn't build up a likable story and had the worst characters/actors. My problem with Wayward Sisters is..... the last thing I want to see is Claire having her own show. They've made Sam and Dean such iconic characters for handling hunting so well and made them so important, why should they put that in someone else's hands? Plus, it could lose its way or create something off the tracks of Supernatural. Also, a spinoff should have its own voice, a Supernatural spinoff couldn't do that. Once Upon a Time couldn't do that either, though attempted. I'm currently is S4 of OUAT and a character that was in spinoff, but I can barely follow because I didn't watch it..

I thought many CSI and Law & Orders made sense because they had different areas to cover. Criminal Minds had 2 spinoffs and they tried too hard imo, Suspect Behavior was awful & Beyond Borders couldn't hang in there, plus Criminal Minds popularity was down...why bother with a spinoff at that point?

My problem with a movie is, if the ending is too official, there'd be no point to a movie. Unless the movie picks something up, but then it would have to end things again on a good note....This makes me wonder if the ending is not going to be a nail in the coffin/sealed ending. Since Supernatural is so compared to X Files, X Files "series finale" was OK, but it didn't really end anything. They had a movie in between S5/S6 and its great, but their second movie after the series ended was awful & every copy should be burned. "I Want to Believe" did no justice to the show & was a complete waste of time. Later, the show returned for two shorter seasons.
If they do decide a Supernatural movie, I really hope it makes sense and does the show justice - we don't need (or want) another "I Want to Believe" movie....

You have raised some interesting points above Sammi. The only good thing I think about a spin-off is that it gives the writers another chance to explore area's they might not have the chance to before. The show ended for what ever reason that we might not ever be a privy too.

I also really want a spin-off to centre Jody and NOT Claire. Also with Donna added as a side-kick to help Jody. Alex was a good combination in Wayward sisters, and even Kia was too. Claire just made a dent in the mix that wasn't the best. Not that I've said something many already know and are aware of. But Jody in the helm of the show, I thought really would have produced some knock out TV. She's a strong actress who could have held her own show and been a female lead for many young girls to look up too. Its just sad that it was never picked up. Even with Claire in small doses it could have produced some strong episodes to remember.

Honestly, sadly, I don’t think there will ever be a Supernatural movie. Or a spin-off. Not that anyone is lying about wanting it (movie, not spin-off) I just think once people move on it just isn’t going to happen. Call it a hunch. If I’m wrong you will get to be the first ones to say so but I don’t think I am. I think Supernatural will go down in film history for its unique, incredible 15 seasons success and that will be it.

I so wish Kim Manners was still around, as with his expertise I think and still do that this series would have been so much stronger. Later years it's wavered for me, parts I've loved and other arc's not so much. I think if he'd worked on the Movies, it would be worthy of watching. Sometimes I don't feel this current crew aren't up to it. But, might be proved wrong. We have a good writing team and I think they could pull it off. I think Dabb has lost his way a bit, in storytelling as he's not as strong as he used to be S4/S5 even though he did write with Loflin back then. If Ben Edlund came back and some writers of the earlier series like Cathryn Humphris, Raelle Tucker, John Shiban. Also we've had some really strong directors over the last 15 years, if they came back they could produce something totally unique and amazing to watch.

I would love to see a Movie as I am an optimistic person by nature. If they say it could happen, then I believe them. Call me a bit needy, but when this show ends, a big part of me will die with it. To have a Movie(s) to watch in the future may help ease that blow and give me and others something to look forward too. It would also be wonderful to see the team and J2 together again. I think deep down, the boys want this too. This show has built a huge fandom, merchandise and must have created millions over the years. Making the Movies will help keep this series alive and not let it die in the dust like most shows often do. We didn't sadly get that spin-off which I don't feel now would have worked, but a Movie and its aspects really do appeal to me. I think Supernatural would really work on the big screen and can imagine me sitting with others in a movie centre watching it and hearing their reactions.
