Why couldn't she just put some grapes in her pocket then run away?

Instead of just standing there and slowly eating. If she would have done it more quickly, then she could have eaten AND not have the faeries eaten. Now that's how you have your cake and eat it too.

Because as you see she does "a double-take" which implies she was enchanted to eat the grapes --- that was the point of the table. It's like magical cheese in a mouse trap.
