Who cares about his stupid job?

First Butterfly Effect was about child abuse, child murder, bullying, with characters losing limbs, being catatonic, becoming a prostitute, drug addict etc etc.

Butterfly Effect 2 - a guy loses his job. Then someone needs some money. Then some random and implausible violence. Then his girlfriend is with someone else.

Yeah... they really knew how to take it up a notch didn't they.

Oh god I know, the plot was terrible. Why did he need to go back in time when he lost his job? He could've just got another job and lived quite happily.

In the first movie, Ashton goes back in time when things get really f'ed up, like when he kills the girl's brother (sorry I can't remember their names). In this film, he has one fight with his girlfriend. Very weak writing.

I didn't think this was great cinema, but I feel the character wanted to change his job because it was unfair he worked so hard and someone else got the promotion, but also that his girlfriend was upset at him because she would have to get another job and put her dreams on hold for him...which I do believe she was already doing...so he may have done that so she wouldn't have to work two jobs and could focus on her studio.

It makes sense to me. What doesn't make sense to me was the sex scenes...I guess to fill out where there wasn't plot line? Especially when he ends up with Grace right after trying to call Julie...I met you, I barely know you, but let's have sex in a public place? Odd.

I just watched this and I totally agree. Ugh and the part where he wakes up to a dude on top of him after being knocked out was an unnecessary and gross scene to me

I don't think that was their first time having sex. Grace even said that it had been a week or so, which tells me that they had been screwing for some time (most likely for him to buy favor with her, which therefore buys favor with her father who is his boss). She even seductively mentioned having her father give him a raise, so they both knew the terms of their relationship and how it benefited the both of them. Really, he was bootlicking even worse than the previous guy who was just getting chummy at the Christmas party.

I think that particular sex scene was there to show how "successful" he thinks he has become having gotten the promotion instead of the other guy and how different and exciting it was compared to the stability of his regular girlfriend. Needless to say it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be.

Personally I think he should've stopped when he realized his three friends were alive and he and his buddy were fired the same day. I understand the need to be employed, but there are so many job opportunities out there and at least his friends were alive. His buddy wouldn't have made that bad business deal, and he wouldn't have left his girlfriend to mess around with the boss' daughter. Sure, his girlfriend would've been angry during that time but she would've gotten over it. And it didn't sound like that company was all that it was cracked up to be, either... he honestly could've spared himself a lot of trouble.
