Am I the Only One Who Really Likes This Movie?

Seriously, this is one of my favorite movies.

"I love it! I wish I could find it on DVD though"

Found it at Wal-Mart in January of 2011.

It's ok, nothing spectacular.

The problem with it is, it takes the visual of the original, but not the metaphor that comes with the japanese version, so a lot of lovers of the original, hate on this one.

****SPOILERS (KIND OF) OF THE ORIGINAL BELOW***********

The Japanese version isn't really a scare kind of horror movie.

It's a statement of the Japanese society and a huge metaphor of the isolation of a whole generation (yeah, I know, why should a horror movie try and be deep...!)

*****************END OF SPOILERS FOR KAIRO********************

This movie just takes the ghost story it also tells, and I personally found it entertaining. I didn't expect it to have a second layer of message as the Japanese one, and if you remove that factor, it's not worse than any other ghost horror out there, in fact the whole apocalyptic scenario is different, if confusing without the motive behind it.

- for anyone that liked this, and haven't seen the original:
Don't look for a Japanese version of this movie, they are really 2 different experiences.

I'm so sorry.

Been a fan of this flick for years! Definitely not the worst remake out there. And plus it has Kristen and Ian in it :D

The direct-to-disc sequels, on the other hand, are completely horrible and at least 50 times worse than this one.

You're not alone, I love this movie! I think it's a very original idea and plausible with how much information and energy etc. we put out there.

Welcome home Sidney! You're a survivor aren't you Sidney..? S4

This is one of my fav. movies too.

I liked all the versions of this because most of us rely too heavily on technology for everyday living. A lot of people who disliked the movie didn't get it.
The Japanese rely more heavily on technology than we do, so it makes sense that they would come up with the idea. People in the States are just too blasé about "the ghost in the machine".

It isn't one of my favorites but I do like it. Kristen Bell and Ian Somerhandler are in it, they are pretty much why I started to watch it in the first place.

I really like this movie. It was done right and had a good cast. The only thing that really bothers me about this movie is that it is supposed to take place in Columbus, Ohio, yet in one scene it shows Mattie coming out of a subway tunnel. I live in Columbus and there is no subway system here. Other than that I love it.

I don't know why people didn't like it. This isn't a hack. It is a good movie.
