There's an alien race on another world tossing up whether to wipe us out or not. They're not completely malevolent but the scales are tipping in favour of total annihilation due to the overwhelming evidence of the complete and utter stupidity of the people of Earth.

Yeah. Even when Val was explaining the time-machine he wasn't that convincing.

Totally agree. As soon as Carlin found out about the time machine and they all started spewing out absurd techno-babble I started laughing and it was all downhill from there. Utterly ridiculous, so silly as to nullify any chance of suspense.
