Age and morality: What would you have done? (NOT a discussion topic)

As Morgan Freeman says to Casey in the movie:

"You walk away from it, you may not regret it when you get home. You may not regret it for a year, but when you get to where I am, I promise you, you will."

I'm curious to see if there IS, in fact, a correlation between age and agreeing/disagreeing with Casey.

So, the point of this topic is simply to state your age and to state whether you agree or disagree with the following statement (again, this is NOT a discussion topic):

"Casey Affleck was right in returning the child to her biological mother."

(Disagreeing means you think he should have left the child with Morgan Freeman; no other options are considered).

Anyway:

Josh, I counted yours as a disagree.

Agree: 46.67% (7/15)
Disagree: 53.33% (8/15)

Surprised to see disagree winning this, so far.

Average age:

Agree: 32.71
Disagree: 26

Not all people are fit to be parents. The biological family is not always the best option. Anyway, your real parents are the ones that bring you up not the ones that give birth to you.

I did not realize this topic had so many replies. A little update on the statistics:

56% (107/190) disagree with the statement, 44% (83/190) agree.

The average age of the respondent who agrees is 28,46
The average age of the respondent who disagrees is 29,79

A marginal difference, however the disagreers ARE a bit older!

One last interesting little tidbit: 100% of 60+ people disagree! Only 4 in this age category have replied so far though. On the other extreme of the age spectrum, only 43% of 18- respondents disagree with the statement (6/14).

Some minor signs that old age does in fact lead to a higher propensity to disagree?

If anyone wants to know something else I'll be glad to answer any questions.

reply

56.5% disagree with the statement (117 out of 207 respondents)
43.5% agree with the statement (90 out of 207 respondents)

The average disagreer is 29.75 years old
The average agreer is 28.31 years old.

Although the disagreers are older on average, this difference is NOT statistically significant.

Essentially you can say that thus far, there is NO age difference between people who agree and people who disagree with Casey's actions.
