Anyone ever notice? Spoilers

When he "escapes" the first time and ends up on the beach. Right after he removes the parking tickets from his windshield, he and his wife are leaning over the fence, the palm trees are sliding to the left. Not blowing, but they are actually sliding so that one ends up out of the shot of the camera. I was trying to see if the camera was moving but it seems like the angle of the couple stays the same. I was thinking maybe a clue that he really isn't out of the room.

reply

Good catch, misty! I hadn't noticed that.

reply

What are you smoking? The camera was clearly moving slowly, changing angle. Look at the position of Mike and Lily, as well as the rail they're leaning on. It moves throughout.

reply

Wow, really? No need to be so defensive. So you didn't see it.

reply

I didn't see "it" because, as mentioned before, I wasn't under the influence of anything.

reply

You sound like you're in jr high.

I guess basic thinking and observation skills make people look like they're in junior high to you. No judgement from me, bud.

reply

It's the insinuating that because not everyone is as perceptive as you, they must be "under the influence". As you twice stated. That's what makes you seem childish.

Not your superior intelligence and observational skills.

You knew what they meant, however. You claimed yourself to possess the mental acuity to realize this.

Noticed last night. And no the camera was not slowly moving as one user said.

reply

The camera is rotating around the couple.

Watch the railing, and notice the positions of Cusack's character and his wife at the start and the end of the shot.

lol The camera was moving slowly in front of the 2 characters in the shot. As another user said, watch the railing closely. IF the background was meant to be "slipping," the camera would've been stationary in front of Mike and Lily. But as you can see from the "moving" railing as well, obviously everything in the shot (the 2 characters, the background, and the railing) were moving because the camera was moving.

No, everything moves. The roof line of the building behind them, the trees, the railing... everything except the people the camera is focusing on. Its called an "arc shot".

reply

You probably see it that way because you smoked the same stuff as the OP.

reply

I literally just got done watching this and I thought there was something weird about those trees as well.

I already knew what was going to happen because I've seen the film before but I definitely felt like that was foreshadowing him still being in the room.

It was filmed very oddly it was hard to not notice it.

reply

I'll look for that, very cool even if it's explainable.

Just watched the scene at 01:20:00. The entire background moves left as the camera pans to the right.

reply

Okay, I just watched it, and agree it is weird... the camera is panning right, but it's panning VERY slowly, and the trees in the background are panning left much faster, which gives it a very bizarre feel.

Nice catch!

I noticed that it looked very strange. I think they were going for a too perfect and slightly off-kilter feel, since he hadn't really escaped. That might have been the thing that made me really sure he hadn't.
