Where would you rank this?

I personally think this is one of the best, if not the best, movie I've ever seen.

I say this for a few reasons. I just finished watching it for a second time (after about 2 years) and it had the same pull and intrigue that it did the first time. This movie is simply unbelievable and this is why I think so. First of all, it has a real story that makes you wonder about real lives. Secondly, the acting is phenomenal and I honestly think that Leo is possibly the best actor ever. Third, it ends the way you would expect a movie with such connotations to end; that is, Leo dies, which is kind of in tone with the whole "blood diamond" reality.

There are so many things I can list, but this movie is simply an incredible movie and I hope this makes people worldwide think twice. I had no clue about the real story behind a good deal of diamonds in this world until I watched this movie. Obviously, the story, as depicted by Blood Diamond, isn't an exact representation of what is going on. However, it sort of gives you the feeling that it is in line with reality and represents it to a very high degree. People are getting killed, so people around the world can show a flashy ring to someone as a symbol of status, pride, etc, isn't it sickening? No matter how much money I have, I WILL NEVER BUY A DIAMOND FOR ME OR MY FUTURE WIFE. I don't care if it's a conflict diamond or not, because this movie clearly showed you something. In many ways, you don't know if the diamonds are conflict diamonds or not. I took this to be a very powerful message.

So I'll be done with my rant and lay the simple question. Where would you guys rank this movie in the grand scheme of things in comparison to ALL movies ever produced. Responses like, top 10, top 20, top 30, top 50, top 100, etc, are all cool. I rank this in the top 5 movies ever (that I've seen). If you got a specific digit, like 1st, 5th, etc, just say it.

I have no clue how this didn't win best picture....no clue at all. I just checked now and it wasn't even nominated, really???? WOW.

Where do you guys place it?

It's really a great film. I saw it just now for the first time and Leo made me cry as usual.

It's probably in my top 20, but I have a lot of sentimental ones in my top 10, so.

It probably makes my top 300, but it doesn't make top 200, so somewhere in between.
Rating: 7/10.

BD comes in at nr.13 on my list. I don´t think I´ve seen a perfect film yet and if I ever thought it was perfect, multiple viewings make me find something that isn´t.

Two extremely large actionsequences try to put our protagonists in harms way as well as shed light on the unspeakable brutality that took place and concidering at what points in the story these scenes occur,it becomes very obvious that the latter is the one thing it succeds in. Although I bet the three Oscarnominations that don´t involve the actors were earned alot thanks to these two scenes and they look and sound great and captures the chaos of war,it just feels a bit too long,a bit contrived and out of place with the storys core.

The ending. After a certain guy dissapears, the film goes on for a few minutes too long, dragging out a point we pretty much got. Just like The departed, the films begin and end without Leo. Still,62% at RT is harsh and people who call this film naive or preachy I will tell in return say are extremely cynical. DiCaprio will most likely WHAT I THINK never be better, neither will Hounsou. Serras cinematography should easily have gotten a nom as well.

A masterpiece. It gets its point across without dwelling in gore,it sucks you in and doesn´t let go,even after like 5 viewings and saying that Africa only serves as a backdrop for a white mans redemption might be right...and extremely wrong. Cause if that continent is going to become a better place, doesn´t it need some redemption and good actions from greedy, white men? I think it does.

Interesting how DiCaprio was up for a Golden Globe and not Hounsou, yet all of the films wins were Hounsous who was pretty close to winning and had this film gotten just a little better reception,he would´ve won. He should´ve won, with Jackie Earl Haley in close second.

If 10 films was nominated for best picture in 2006,I wonder if it had gotten a nom.
