Oh, was this awfull.

I'm not picky with movies, oh I've seen so much crap I could watch anything. Maybe that was the reason I watched this one to the end. Im big fan of RPG games too, but this movie, its a disgrace to any self-respecting RPGer there is. The security-camera footage of a game-play would make it feel more realistic than this movie does. The lines, the cuts, the audio, everything is wrong. In some scenes you can see that it was filmed in some photo when !!!!!(spoilers ahead)!!!!!people running around does not disturb people sitting near computers. I mean would you continue your work if you got ninjas around you? oh and the jokes about pirates, that's the worst one yet in movies!!!!!(spoilers end)!!!!! At least first one felt like a documentary, now it looks like someones home video experiment. You can find better movies at youtube. Top line: Don't waste your time and money on this one, its as bad as it comes.

Apparently, someone needs to look up the words "satire" and "parody" in the dictionary.
The movie is great for what it is. It's gamers poking fun at gamers for a laugh. It's a fan-made film with a four-figure budget, if that. If you went in expecting Star Wars grade effects and Lord Of The Rings plot, you're just an idiot. You don't go to a high school play to see Broadway.

Considering the contacts, equipment, and time frame they had to work with, this movie came out great. Even better than the first one and just as hilarious! ^_^

reply

but when you compare school play with Broadway level, you dont give school play 10 stars just because it had little budget. And as far as i know IMDB Compare all the movies.
This movie was a parody, a bad one.

From his sneer at anything less highbrow than himself to the obligatory Voltaire quote, this guy is class 1 a-hole material for sure.

This show was well made for its budget and damned funny. Sorry that it doesn't live up to your amazing standards.

Budgets mean nothing, and regardless, this movie was entertaining as hell....

(Yeah, the Voltaire quote is what really gives it away, but as I'm feeling ornery, I feel like taking one last shot at this moron.)

So, I guess if this movie was bad because it's a satire with a low budget, then Army of Darkness must have REALLY sucked and there couldn't anything worse than Rocky Horror Picture Show, nevermind that those are two of the most well-known cult classics ever made (RHPS is actually still shown regularly in theaters across the country :P).

Actually, most cult classics suck donkey b***s from a technical perspective (especially in comparison to things made more recently like Lord of the Rings or Avatar) but that's not the point. The point is that they appeal to the particular groups they're made for (hence the term 'cult' classic) and those groups don't give a flying *beep* about the technical details nearly as much as the overall content and said content's validity. The Dungeons & Dragons movie that was made with the big budget and all the fancy special effects was endlessly ragged on by a lot of the gaming community because it was a horrible representation of the world they played in, nevermind that it was well done from a technical standpoint.

Army of Darkness appeals to horror/sci-fi fans, Rocky Horror pokes fun at the b-movie and musical crowd, Princess Bride gets the fantasy/romance crowd going... Gamers, well, it's self-explanatory at this point.
All of these movies absolutely suck harder than any other movie ever made when compared by technical details alone. It doesn't matter that they *look* horrible by current standards, they're overall good movies that the people they appeal to absolutely love.

And just to belabor the point: No, you're not qualified to put any sort of judgment on this film because you're obviously not a member of it's 'cult'.
For an example: A 40 year old critic once gave a review of a Whinnie the Pooh movie and said that no one could possibly enjoy it because it was "juvenile, predictable, and visually bland; you'd have to be a five-year-old to find this movie at all entertaining." Well no *beep* DUH!
Similarly, you'd have to be a gamer to enjoy this movie and if you aren't then your opinion *doesn't matter.* Get that through your pompous, overstuffed head and we'll all be able to get on with our lives.

your right that a cult classic often has a group of people that love it and dont care about other opinions. it is obviuos your one of those people. army of darkness wasnt bad at all, and i have never heard about RHPS so it isnt "That" popular.
if this movie correctly represented the gamer community then i really hope there arent many such communities. from what it showed there are some nolifing people with stupid ideas "lets hide behind a pile of dead bards" (riiiight, and knowing that was probably the most funny aprt of the film, the rest is nto worth mentioning).
from where i see it there are 3 time of gamers: one that tries to beat the game metagaming all the time, another that tries to do it rpg way and have a lot of fun, and those that know nothing but the game and consider game being most imporatant thing of all.
i am a gamer and by your logic that would make my opinion matter, so good job sherlock on figuring that out.

He's never heard of Rocky Horror Picture Show?? And because he hasn't it can't be that popular?? What a douche bag this guy is...Seriously...that disqualifies all of his arguments right there on the grounds that he's a pretentious, self-centered moron.

I'd dare say Rocky Horror picture is more famous and well known then Army of Darkness. Both of which I love.

Best to just ignore this guy. You need to have a sense of humor bigger then a grape to enjoy the Gamers. He doesn't appear to have one. Even people who turned their nose up at watching it for its low budget ended up loving this movie.

Its funny and its hits all the stereo typical Gamers/RPers perfectly. Something he apparently doesn't get.

Oh yeah, didn't you know? RHPS is totally underground and known to only a handful of people. It's not as if it plays in major theaters on saturday at midnight somewhere in nearly every city in the country, and of course there aren't at least 100 people (not including the stage cast) that show up for it every week. Nah, it's all in my head, I was never pulled on stage with a giant V on my forehead and made to do the Time Warp in front of everyone because THIS DOUCHE has never even heard of Rocky Horror so it can't be that popular. [/sarcasm]

Yeah, that comment alone validated my entire argument XD I love it when people trip and skewer themselves on their own ego, it saves me the trouble.

Hey Mytho...

I'm a little confused by your last comment...I wasn't sure if you were responding to my post [since you quoted the entire thing] or if you were continuing to flame Strazdamonas...if it was directed at me then I think you misunderstood my comment...I wasn't calling you a douche...I was talking about Strazdamonas...because he's an idiot...I on the other hand have seen RHPS...but unfortunately I have never experienced it...and also...Gamers: Dorkness Rising was awesome! I own it and it's incredibly low-budget predecessor...I am also a gamer [yes I freely admit that without shame] so both movies are near and dear...but I have friends who aren't gamers and they loved each movie as well.
