Favourite scenes between Walter and Kitty?

I love the following ones

-When they first meet at the party at her parents house.

-The dinner table scene where they eat the bad vegetables.

-The scene where he hugs her in bed after she's fainted when she was with the nuns and Walter thinks she has Cholera.

-The whole deathbed sequence.

-The raft scene.

-Where they're at Waddington's house and they're all listening to the records.

-Where he sees her in the schoolroom when she is sleeping before he rides out with the army officers to stop the cholera sufferers coming into the town.

I also love the end between Kitty and Waddington where he hugs her(I know it's not between Kitty and Walter but it's about him though. It's one of my favourite scenes in the whole film so moving and well acted by both Toby and Naomi.)

What are other fans favourite scenes between these two?

Every scene with the two of them is incredible! Haha.

I can't think of a single one I'm not in love with. :)

I too love every single scene that Kitty & Walter are in, whether they are arguing or making love..
any exchange between the two are worth watching.

I especially like when she brings him his supper in his "lab" & starts checking around at what he is
involved in....I don't think she ever gave it a 2nd thought, until the nuns opened her mind to it.
Although the aftermath of their exchange is sad.

Sometimes I just fast forward the film,& only watch the scenes that they both appear in...

yeah, all those are good. and when they get the water mill going.

The scene where Kitty and Walter are talking, and Walter softens and admits they should not have looked for qualities in each other that they didn't possess. A brilliantly emoted moment of realization.

The scene when Kitty spies on their mutual friend in bed with his Chinese lover, and Walter unnerves her by catching her watching the lovers be intimate. Then Walt and Kitty both go home, it's very late, Walter sees Kitty undressing, his anger and need to punish her have been eroded, he's drunk, tired, and he runs to embrace, passionately kiss and bed Kitty. All is apparently forgiven. Yowsa !!! A truly erotic scene, that is not even graphic to get the point across.

The scene when Kitty fearfully tells Walter she's pregnant. He matter-of-fact, non-judgmentally considers the evidence whether the baby is actually his, then decides after his forgiveness of Kitty that it doesn't matter. Kitty is greatly relieved and she embraces Walter. Awwww. Sigh....they only write husbands like that in books !!

The looks and changes just in actor Ed Norton's face as his character goes from hurt, cynical, hateful and punitive to bemused, curious, softened, attracted and then excited by Kitty are priceless. What a fabulously subtle and highly effective actor he is.

That love scene is honestly one of the best I've ever seen. It's just so emotionally charged. This movie is strong because the characters are strong, and you care about what happens with them.

Another thing I love about this movie is that, against all odds, it steers clear of cliches and managed to surprise me repeatedly. When she sees Waddington and the Chinese girl, EVERYONE must have thought that it was Walter. So the audience goes through the same emotions as Kitty - fear, dread, then surprise and belief when Walter comes up behind her.

SO GOOD <3

Definitely one of my favourite love scenes.

Not me. That had never crossed my mind until you suggested the possibility. Walter was so clearly disdainful of infidelity that he seemed very unlikely to disrupt the relationship of Mr. Waddington. Plus, the young Chinese woman seemed utterly devoted to Mr Waddington.

reply

Agreed. Never for a moment suspected Walter would suddenly be nibbling on that Chinese bird’s tit. It was no surprise when the flabby Waddington popped up (and then went straight back to work even though he was being watched - chad move)

OH, definitely the end of the evening after they've been socializing with Waddington and his lady friend. They're both undressing in separate rooms but very aware of each other. Then he stands in the doorway, she drops her dress and he runs in and practically attacks her. Gave me chills. The sexual tension had been building slowly and then WHAM. Awesome.

Their first night in Shanghai. Walter is so incredibly awkward. Especially funny is when he knocks on her door, and she jokingly asks "who is it"?

reply

I think Kitty was more sexually experienced than Walter, He seemed really shy about his body, it is nice he finally forgave her for cheating.

reply

I love the scene where both of them have hangovers, the day after drinking at Waddington's and having passionate sex. Kitty goes for a walk and runs into Walter, who admits his head is too "shattered" to bargain for bamboo.

No one has mentioned (thus far) the scene(s) of Walter running through the violent uprising in the village to find and rescue Kitty. Believably, he couldn't fend off a gang of Asian toughs, but he holds his own until the befuddled bodyguard rises to the occasion and comes to their aid just in time. The sequence is well played as Kitty and Walter glumly ride the waterway home, traumatized and full of thought, aloof from one another, needing a nice neat whiskey, which leads to the relaxing evening in Waddington's decadent and erotic lair.

All listed here are beautiful scenes.

I'd like to add the quick encounter they had when Walter bumped into Kitty at the orphanage at her first day working there. He wasn't expected to see her at all and he is very surprised and puzzled while she casually says hi and continues her way.

Also, again in the orphanage, when he watches Kitty play the piano together with the kids and remembering their first meeting...

Lovely, oh so lovely!
