If you freeze frame in the stairwell fighting sequence, you can see that it is CLEARLY not seagal. And in the other fight sequences, his face is not shown, also a testament that he uses a stand in for fighting, and his fighting style is not aikido. Does he even do anything in his movies anymore, besides picking up his paycheck?
What happened to him? it used to be beautyful to see him move and fight

Steven Seagal does none of his character's fight scenes in "Black Dawn" because he walked off the set on Day 18 of the 30-day shoot due to creative differences with the first-time director. Seagal choreographs the fight scenes in his movie (much like Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Willis do in theirs), but Gruszynski kept interfering and trying to change the scenes.
Whatever the case, the fight scenes were done with stunt doubles or practice scenes Seagal had completed with stuntmen prior to leaving. As commenters have said, the scenes are just awful, like watching one of those old blaxploitation flicks where they didn't have enough black stunt men and had to use white guys wearing shoe polish.
He should be embarrassed, Sammo Hung still kicks a$$ in his movies..
