Why does everyone seen to hate this movie?
I'm not looking for an argument here, I'm just intrigued. I quite enjoyed it! Am I the only one?

you just cant compare it to the book....
as a film it was good... but the book was really fantastic
You're certainly not the only one. I love this movie. Maybe it's the style in which it's done that doesn't appeal to a very broad audience. *shrug*
shareI just caught this movie on tv today. It's a good looking movie and well made. The performances are great. So it's based on the memoirs of the author. Perhaps the book is fantastic, I haven't read it. However, I found myself annoyed with this movie. I don't know, maybe I wasn't in the mood, but I didn't like it and switched it off.

I thought it would be crappy because I heard a bad review by I forget who. I liked it a lot.
shareI really wanted to like this film, and did to a degree, but it just dragged on for too long without ever developing a clear narrative. Too many of the characters are inaccessible - either nuts (Hope, Neil and Deirdre) or under-developed (Agnes). What about Dr.Finch? Is he nuts as well, is he a con-man who swindles his patients, or perhaps both? Only Augusten and Natalie are remotely identifiable. As a result the final two scenes are nowhere near as emotional as they surely should be...
yea, the movie REALLY sucked
