Movie references in the game?

Maybe it was just me but did anyone else notice several references to well known movie plots, characters and actors in this game e.g.

1) Knox Harrington - Bertram's ghoul - also a character in the Big Lebowski played by David Thewlis and like the game's character he is portrayed as being giddy, overly excitable and idiotic

2) Flynn Boyle - owner of the Sin Bin in Hollywood - perhaps there was a fan of Lara Flynn Boyle working on this game?

3) Romero - caretaker of the cemetary in hollywood, also hired to shoot zombies on sight - then you have George Romero, the director most famous for films about...you guessed it zombies

4) Ash - vampire actor who owns the Asp Pit - also seems coincidental seeing the game's interest in zombies that there should be another character named after another character in well known horror films (Ash - Evil Dead movies)

5) Asp Pit - owned by an actor - Viper room anyone?

6) Ocean House Hotel - Axe wielding homicidal man kills his wife and children - I mean when you briefly see his ghost stumbling towards you with an axe in the boiler room it's hard not to think "Here's Johnny!"

Well they're the main ones i've come up with. If anyone out there has noticed other refs would be cool to hear about them.

Okay, this may not reference what I think it does. But if it does, I'm stunned no one has mentioned it:

During the Embrace scene at the beginning, the clock is made by Zaphod, probable reference to Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

"The moment a person finds his voice is the moment his life takes on grace."

Too bad the unofficial patched renamed weapons so we no longer get a Firefly reference.

IN addition to the Ned Nedlander firearms manual, there is a Sobchak security manual.

Walter Sobchak, of course, was John Goodman's character in "The Big Lebowski" who ran his own security firm.

Gimble(the creepy guy who hacks people up) sounds kind of like the voice at the start of "Mein Teil" By Rammstein who says "Suche gut gebauten 18 bis 30-jährigen zum Schlachten. Der Metzgermeister." Which translates "Searching a well built 18- till 30-year old male for slaughtering. The butcher."
Coincidence?

Way to revive an old thread, I know, but I found a really obscure one:

When you "meet" Gary for the first time, there's a dining table in the middle of the room with a couple of human skelletons sitting on it as if they were having a fancy dinner. One of them has a female wig on its head, if I remember correctly. This is a reference to Ed Wood's "Night of The Ghouls", in which the main character, Dr. Acula, performs his fake necromantic rituals while sitting on a dining table with other three human skelletons. One of them, naturally, wearing a female wig.

This reference was probably meant to make Gary's character similar to the vampire villains of old horror B-movies, like those in which he acted. The fact that he was once a handsome actor famous for roles in such movies could also be a hint that his character was based upon actors like Christopher Lee and Bela Lugosi. Both of them famous for playing Count Dracula.

at the beginning of the game when Jack asks "if you are ready" you get to respond with the suitably brilliant:

"I was BORN ready."

Gotta love the Carpenter references in this game. Jack Burton would be proud! I'm pretty sure theres a few more lines in the game and isn't one of the quests called "Big Trouble In Little China?"

The whole Elizabeth Dane idea was brilliance, its a shame they changed the Antonio Bay password in one of the patches.

okay, this could be me reaching, but:

In the first area, you have to find a missing guy. You end up at Gimble's Prosthetics. This seemed like a reference to The Fugitive to me. Gimble sounds kind of like Kimble. In the movie, Harrison Ford is after the "one armed man," with a prosthetic hand...in the game, Gimble looks JUST like harrison ford, although he's pretty *beep* crazy, judging by his "store."

here's a shot of Gimble: http://www.gamebanshee.com/showshot.php?/vampirebloodlines/walkthrough/images/screenshot32.jpg

he looks even more like Ford when he's not attacking you

Am I nuts?

The book that raises your Bartering skills (Always Be Counting) is an indirect reference to Glengarry Glen Ross (Always Be Closing).

Mr. Ox and his shop seems to be a reference to the book/movie "Needful Things" by Stephen King.

Real life ain't as dope as the movies.
