In hindsight its a shame they didnt continue with Salvation's future war trilogy

over what we got (a BTTF/Star Trek style timeline reboot and a Force Awakens/Halloween style legacy sequel to T2),

I remember reading the next would've been the creation of the T1000 (featuring Robert Patrick in a role as a skynet scientist) and maybe featuring some time travel to present day , then the 3rd final one would've been the 2029 (or 2032 according to T3) Cameron style blue night future war , the end of war, sending back Reese and the various terminators (T1/2/3 Arnolds, T1000, TX), Connors death by the T3 terminator (basically TGENs opening but whole movie of the scenes that JC originally had planned for T2 opening). The 3rd would've been the one everyone was waiting for like Star Wars III

At least that way would've been pretty consistent timeline wise (not so much splintering off into various timelines) and it'd have been 3 present day set/time travel films and 3 future war films (eventually showing the how the time travel took place in the original 3 films)
