People think it sucked because they sought to gain satisfaction from a movie that was not intended for their age bracket. This movie is for kids. Thats why the dialouge was simple and occasionally lame, because thats what child humour is. If you watch it knowing your watching a family movie then you can appreciate the strengths of it. The point of movies is to share knowledge. This movie was trying to show kids what life is like for some kids and give those that get a hard time some hope that they are not alone. Its got nothing to teach adults and thats why some adults dont appreciate it.

i love this movie! i didn't think i would like it, but i think it is sooooo funny!

reply

because this movie are immature visual gags. for example purple nurple, or wedgie gags. that is quite funny to some peole but really mature adults dont understand the kind of harmless stupidity that is in this movie. the stupidity is what makes this movie enjoyable. I thought this movie was bad but funny. I enjoyed it.

Will defend Dakota Fanning if it kills me.

They made the nerds out to be gross, but not particularly smart - in fact they were dumber than the jock kids who were also gross, but mean. In fact, the movie confused nerds and dorks. Nerds would never hang out with guys who eat bugs or whatever - in fact, I was an outcast in school and could not relate to any of the characters.

Besides being predictable, there were no likeable characters. I can see this movie being funny to many 8-12 y/o's or I guess anyone who really likes visual fart/poop jokes. I don't HATE fart/poop jokes if they are done properly - in fact, I loved the line

Bully-"Get ready to meet your maker!"
Dork-"Maker of what? POOP?!

anyway, that was the funniest line in the movie, but it was on the trailer so no spoiler there.

reply

Maybe because they have no sense of humor like that wolverick guy.

this is without a doubt top 10 worst movies ive ever seen. you guys are morons for even thinking this movie is remotely good or even funny.

reply

I just watched this on showtime and I have to say.... I laughed my butt off. Maybe it's because I wasn't expecting to see a cinematic masterpiece, but I was totally worth my while. But I guess it depends on people's individual tastes. I thought that Wedding Crashers should be burned and its ashes buried, but this one I loved.

reply

I just watched this today and thought it was good. It was funny which was what I was expecting from it. I didn't expect a good story or character development but those parts were alright.

reply

I have just seen this too but must admit that it was much, much better than i thought. Damn I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was very funny.

reply

What I mean by that is a person can admit to liking bad movies. Here's an analogy. Many of us (myself included) love McDonalds food but we know it isn't a gourmet dinner. I like plenty of movies that I know are poorly written with lots of plot holes. These are called "guilty pleasure" films. You like them even though you know they suck.

But this was a Happy Madison movie! I expected good comedic writing. I loved Happy Gilmore, Waterboy, Deuce Bigaloe, and Grandma's Boy is one of the funniest movies ever imo..of course I prefer Checkers and Wendys over McDonalds any day, so what do I know?

I think this is the worst Happy Madison movie ever; not one of the worst movies period, just the worst movie to contain the budget and caliber of stars that this production had.

In all honesty I don't like this film very much. All I was trying to do was let the original poster know that he happens to like a film that most people think is a poor film. There is nothing wrong with liking a bad movie. You can even know that it's a bad film (whatever film that may be) and still like it. There are quite a few that I like as well but I know they are bad films.

It was better than most mindless comedies of this type and unlike most of them (Click for instance) the main character isn't a jerk for half the film before you are supposed to feel good about him becoming a human being.

reply

No, instead the main character was a jerk, and you were supposed to like him even though he was a jerk..or no; maybe after he decided to try harder to get his wife pregnant, that was supposed to make him more of a human being and you were supposed to feel good about him for that..

Oh, and I though Click was a very good, funny, well written film. Christopher Walken was awesome, but of course he is always awesome.

By the standards you set that means "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens is a bad story because the main character was a jerk for 95% of the book/film.

Personally, when I first saw the adds for this, I had absolutely no interest in it, even though I've been a fan of the Happy Madison clan for ages. But when I finally got it out to watch it, I loved it. I think you have to take certain things with you when you watch it -
a) it's Happy Madison, which is wonderful, but not really Oscar material (well thats the general consensus anyway)
b) it's targetted at kids/young adults, so it's gonna be that sort of humour

Sometimes there's nothing better than a fun, immature-in-parts movie, and this is just so much fun. As Spade himself said, so many reviewers slammed it for being immature and kiddy, but hey, that's kinda what they were aiming for.

Eh, I don't know how much sense that made. Bottom line, I love this movie, and I laughed my ass off watching it. Loved Spade and Schneider working together again also, and loved Heder's, Swardson's and Lovitz's roles.

reply

I can't believe people think it was good. I don't mind Jon Heder, but this movie was just absolutely awful.

By far one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

reply

Personally i think this movie is harshly underrated! I brought it expecting it to be an average rob schnieder movie but was really surprised by how great it was. if u take it seriously ul hate it, just watch it when ur in a stupid slapstick type mood and this movie is perfect!

reply

cuz its the worst movie i've ever seen. it really sucks

reply

It is in no way the worst movie I have ever seen. I thought this movie was going to blow chunks, but I was really amused all the way through.

Compared to DATE MOVIE, the benchwarmers is oscar worthy.
