6.8 ??? with 9000 odd votes ???

What is up with that, terrible acting, terrible filming .... had to switch it off after just over an hour. How the hell does that get 6.8 ???
Watched Hostel 3 before it and that gets 4.8 and yes it is terrible but infinitely more watchable than this weak crap !
Yeah it was horrific if that counts as Horror lol.

Some people just don't get metta films. This movie is a masterpiece.

Wow, I didn't even notice the first few times I watched Behind the Mask, that the guy gardening in his yard being asked about thew Nightmare on Elm Street murders was Kane Hodder, if you don't know who he is, he played Jason in the Friday the 13th films six times. This movie is full of great horror cameos, and the movie itself is a truly creative take on the horror genre. Metta horror like this is always great, this one from 2006, and the more recent film, Cabin in the Woods handles the genre with a certain archetypal outlook that brings a fresh perspective to the genre of horror, but also a sort of GPS for where horror can go next, instead of the direction its taken with found footage films.

This movie was quite good. I won't hold your opinion against you. Clearly you fall in the low to average end of the intelligence spectrum as do the majority, so this type of movie is not for you. But what you lack in smarts, you make up for in self-confidence.

That made me laugh out loud, because it's so true. It always seems to be the most ignorant people that possess the most self-confidence.

if you think this movie sucks, would you be so kind and name at least 10 other movies of the meta-horror genre that are better in your opinion? good luck.

you are probably an idiot.. that explains it.

Not liking a movie makes him an idiot?
The truth is I probably can't name ten better meta-horror films but that doesn't mean that this movie is good. It only means that recent meta-horror flicks aren't good at all.
It's kind of creative (man bites dog) and has a decent twist but aside from that it's not engaging.

no, his post including the claim that hostel 3 is better than behind the mask, makes him an idiot. the additional information, that he switched it off after 10 minutes and yet compared it as inferior to one of the most brainless cash-in-rip-off sequels in recent history, makes its just worse.

so, "man bites dog" is

a) horror?
and more importantly
b) meta-horror?

you understand that just because a camera crew is involved, that it is not on a meta-level in regards of the horror-GENRE, right? it is a story within a story, but that does not make it meta level. v/h/s is not meta-horror either, even though we get to see found footage of protagonists, who at times watch found footage, while BEING on found footage.

I Just mentioned man bites dog for the beginning set of events (crew creates a documentary about a criminal-killer).
About the idiot thing, i agree with this reasoning.

Rated it a 9. I really enjoyed it and found all the logistical complaints to be what made the movie even better in my opinion. Really really great flick. Scary? No. Different, amusing, innovative, creative, silly, odd, awesome? hell yea!

The 6.8 is WAY too low for such a great film. If you give this underrated gem anything less than a 7/10, you don't understand horror. It's that simple.

I personally gave it a 6/10. I can understand why people like it, but it's just not my kind of horror. I don't really care for "meta" horror movies because for me it always seems like they have an aura of arrogance around them. As though they're trying to say "Look how much smarter and better we are than THOSE kinds of movies." They just have an air of superiority about them. Or at least to me they do. I do think it was a creative concept, though. And I enjoyed the cast, too. But overall it just isn't for me.
