I'm curious about the universe this film takes place in.

So using this film's logic Friday the 13th's 1-12,A Nightmare on Elm Street 1-6 also 8, & Halloween 1-8 share the universe of this film so what other Horror icons share this pretty board and expansive universe.

Well, Freddy vs Jason was supposed to have a cameo by Pinhead from Hellraiser at the end so I guess it's possible to include that.

Apparently, the films of Adam Green also share this universe. Hatchet II reference Behind the Mask when the characters discuss the bad-guy they're up against:

Chad: "Hey, man. Who's Victor Crowley?"
Layton: "Well, he's nothing. A local bogeyman story about a retarded maniac who haunts Honey Island. People just use it to keep kids away from the swamp."
Chad: "You mean like a Jason Voorhees or something?"
Layton: "Something like that."
Chad: "When I was eight, I lived in this town called Glen Echo. Our ghost story is about this man named Leslie Vernon..."

To be clear, nothing says all of those films share this universe... if you know the Halloween movies well, they don't even necessarily all share the same universe.

Not that it really matters, I am guessing even the writers didn't decide which sequels were and were not to be included, but it could easily only be H1, H2 and H2O and Ft13 1-4 for example.

One fun thing to note about the Halloween franchise is that when talking about how many murders were committed by Mike, he says a number and then "maybe more, depending on who you ask", or something similar. Basically referring to whether you count 4-6 or discard them like 7 and 8 did. I really liked that line.

All slasher films take place in this universe.

Eugene was initially based on the killer from Black Christmas, which some critics and theorists regard as the first slasher film in that it sets the rules and conventions that the other films followed. So yeah.
