Why don't they make a theatrical Elvis bio-pic?

With the success of Walk the Line and Ray I'm very surprised that any Elvis bio-pic goes direct to TV. My only guess is that Johnny Cash and Ray Charles were both able to overcome their addictions and Elvis never did. So it would be a depressing end or something, I have no idea.

There is supposedly one in the works - based on the best selling book by Peter Guralnick - Last Train to Memphis - which chronicles Elvis & his early years. Word is this will be directed by Kevin Macdonald (Last King of Scotland director) and nobody has been chosen to play Elvis as yet. We'll see if it materializes - it's been in talks for a few years now - but that's the latest as of September 2013!

So now that the new 2022 Elvis film is out, have you seen it yet and what did you think? Personally, I loved it and consider it to be the best on Elvis that I've seen. Made me a fan of both Elvis and the actor Austin Butler!
