If you aren't Christian and Liked this please tell me so.

I was wondering if this was just another chilidsh religious film or if it was really good, any opinions? (Non-Christians or fringe Christian's only. If you're a fringe Christian you're only elegable to answer if you've read Steven King or someone like him.)

I was pulled in at first. Following the unraveling of truths. Then CGI flies spewed from a kids mouth and it went downhill. I was kind of hoping that the actual story would have been Aliens taking human form and using our connection to theology to try and take our planet without a fight. The name sort of implies that in my mind anyway. All in all...the build was nice but the climax was a let down in my opinion.

I am a Christian, and I loved the book The Visitation, but absolutely despised the movie. I recommend three other books in place of watching the Visitation - Read The Oath, Monster, and This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness (a two parter).

I'm a Christian and I love Frank Perretti's book. This movie was a butchered, twisted representation of the actual story. The real book was much more intense and noncliche.

now, i am a Christian as well, but movies for me is open ground. I thought the technical aspects were good. the directing, acting (well, most of the acting) and so on were good, but there was only two things i had a problem with. the story moved along without a whole lot of motivation. if they could at least taken that from the book it would of been a whole lot better, but it was just one action after another. then the cg flies were kind of bad, but with small budgets you kind of expect that. all in all a good movie, but i'd prefer to watch it on tv then rent or buy.

In case I don't see you again goodafternoon, goodevening, and goodnight -- Jim Carrey

Im not a Christian, Im not an anything, I think blind faiths are rather silly and the route of all wars but thats another story, thread, topic, whatever... BUT.... I enjoyed this movie, just as I enjoyed The Excorsist or The Omen movies.... They all have their respective religious babble throughout, but I watch and take them as pure fantasy films... Like Demons could be Orks, Angels could be Elves, God as a Klingon Warbird, its all rather silly in reality, but makes for very entertaining movies..

While I'll respect your choice of religions (or no religion for that matter) to suggest that a person with a faith follows blindly is in and of itself misguided. I am a Christian myself but have arrived here with much thought, contemplation and introspection.

However, I do agree with you that this movie is decent enough. I must concur with some other points about the movie, especially having read numerous books by Frank Peretti. There were numerous portions of the book left out that would have greatly enhanced this film. They modified several characters' roles in the story, but this I have come to expect from Hollywood when making a film with Christian themes. I'm sure budget constraints were also a major consideration.

I would suggest that anyone who went into this movie looking for something different a bit of research on the author would have helped make the decision to watch or not. I would also suggest reading the books, if nothing else for the entertainment value. Peretti writes a really captivating book that keeps you turning pages waiting for the next twist and his books deserve movies that do them justice.

I'm definitely not Christian, and I found it to be a really bad movie filled with Christian imagery and other supernatural crap. Just bad. The acting wasn't that good, but the pathetic story was just awful. All the crucifixion images and other violence, what is that about? Sort of sado-masochistic. I didn't think even fundamentalists fell for that. In my opinion violence is nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus. But I could be wrong, maybe it's all about violence.
