If you aren't Christian and Liked this please tell me so.

I was wondering if this was just another chilidsh religious film or if it was really good, any opinions? (Non-Christians or fringe Christian's only. If you're a fringe Christian you're only elegable to answer if you've read Steven King or someone like him.)

I'm not elligible-- since I'm a Christian-- so I won't tell you how good it is. But I will tell you that if you are expecting a "horror movie," it probably won't meet your expectations. I think it's more accurately a supernatural thriller, and you're more likely to enjoy it with that frame of mind.

reply

I do not believe in higher powers...but I would recommend this film to anybody.

reply

I don't believe in god, but I did enjoy this movie. Mainly because, unlike some people who have posted comments about it, I realize that IT'S JUST A MOVIE. It's an entertaining 90 minutes.

reply

I'm an atheist and I thought it was beautifully directed and acted.
Lots of interesting action for a supernatural thriller.

I'm not a Christian, but I enjoyed this film. It's very well done, and quite suspenseful. It is Christian-based, in the sense that faith healing/demonic possession play their parts, but in any horror film, you have to accept the mythology given. It just happens to be Christian in this one.

I'm a Christian, but I'm quite laid-back as well as a horror/suspense fanatic, so I think I can reply. (If not, you'll have to deal with it because I am going to anyway :-) Anyways I thought this was kind of a boring movie, to tell the truth. It had great atmosphere and was nicely done though. In all I'd give it about a '6'- pretty average. Not a complete waste of time but not necessarily worth watching more than once either.

P.S.
ugh, Stephen King? He's such a hack! If you want some GOOD horror, read Lovecraft, Manly Wade Wellman, and M.R. James.

I used to be a Christian and now watch anything with a Christian bent like I watch the Harry Potter movies or anything like that. I know the mythology. I thought it was good. I haven't seen any movies before that went into the false prophets thing that I'd read in the bible before and I was glad to see a new (to me) plotline. Pleasantly surprised.

Here is my opinion.

It does have a christian propaganda feeling to it.You can't deny that feeling when the bible gets thrown to save someone. The movie was ok,Imo.It didn't bring anything new to the table but it is ok to watch.I like eddies acting and the scenes of when he was a kid etc.I don't really conect with the other charectors.Maybe the boy who gets taken over but not so much.It is worth seeing on tv but renting it would be a waste.Buying it would be tragic :)

For the plot, The movie just didn't feel justified. It seemed too pushy.

I'm a Pagan and I enjoyed this movie. However, I knew going in it was going to be incredibly dogmatic, as Frank Peretti, while he writes some really good horror, is a Christian novelist and calls himself such. So of course it dealt in absolutes.

Notice how it was the Pentacostal minister who saved the day all around? Even when he wasn't present? This is what I mean about dealing in absolutes. I'm actually amazed the Priest wasn't cast in a bad light, considering the way fundies feel about Catholics and how they're not real Christians.

But all that aside, it was a solid thriller. Good cast, good screenplay, very enjoyable from the horror movie fan point of view.

reply

That's because Peretti is Pentecostal. His dad is a Pentecostal Minister.

How are Catholics not Christians? I'm neither Catholic nor Protestant but I want to smack people when they say Catholics aren't Christians. A Christian is someone who believes in Jesus Christ and tries to follow him so that includes Catholics, Protestants, and Mormons.
