Love the film! But one problem...

I'm not gonna waste my time praising the movie for its pros because everyone has done that already. I love the film to death, it's in my top 30 of all time.

However I noticed from the last time I saw the movie, that I didn't really care that much about any character in the story. There is the well established notion of friendship between the women that is very strong. But we don't really know that much about any of them.

Sure there is the trauma at the beggining of the film that sets up our empathy towards the main charater, but I didn't find much more than that over the course of the runtime.
