Question about obvious plot point (to me) SPOILERS

Since the dad, Clyde? Had figured out that Emily was possessed by something that came out of the box, why didn't it ever occur to him to go back to the house where he bought the dang thing and ask if they knew anything? Then maybe he might have found out it's history sooner. Maybe he couldn't remember where the house was, but I would think they should have at least brought this up. I would think yard sale guy's mom would have something to say about the box, assuming she survived the attack.

Tis didn't make sense to me.

To each their own...opinion

Agree. Maybe I missed it, but what was the box doing in the old lady's house to start with? Then when she went to smash it with an object, all hell broke loose. But wouldn't the demon WANT the box to be smashed open so it could escape or go into the old lady? I am totally not understanding what that was all about...

Anything could have happened to get the box into the house. Someone could have given it as a gift, she could have bought it from a friend....or picked it up off the street (as the ending implied the next person will do).

Likely the dybbuk wouldn't want to be released by just anyone. This particular demon was a 'taker of children'.
Lastly, its possible that the box must be opened *properly* for it to escape unharmed.
Smashing it may impede it somehow.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

It was a gift from her Daughter - there was a card next to it.

Agreed. I wondered the same exact thing. I kept expecting him to go back to where he bought the box.
