this a carbon copy from hoolywood movie

the film is not original for god sake.... it was a copy from the hoolywood movie the note book based on the best seller novel by Nicholas Sparks's

reply

Havent seen NoteBook but the wikipedia says "The 2005 hollywood movie The Notebook, another very good reprisal of a love story afflicted by the onset of aging memory." You may be quite right in there but it adds "A Moment to Remember is a 2004 South Korean movie based on a 2001 Japanese television drama Pure Soul broadcasted by Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation. The movie was officially released on November 5, 2004 in South Korea." so you are wrong!

The only thing common between A moment to remember and The Notebook is that:
a) They both are love stories
b) A character has Alzheimer
This is not a basis enough to call A moment to remember a carbon copy

I take it that u are a fan of Nicholas Sparks. You may think that he is a genius to come up with the idea of a romantic drama about an Alzheimer patient. But the fact remains that he isn't the first one to come up with an Alzheimer drama story. Let me list a few movies:

Do You Remember Love (1985)
The Last Good Time (1994)
Walking and Talking (1996)
The Net (1995)
Folks! (1992)
Sonia (1986)
Mercy or Murder?(1987)
Black Daisies for the Bride (1993)
Grandma Didn't Wave Back(1984)
Losing It All: The Reality of Alzheimer's Disease (1991)
Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter (1994)
Forgotten Hat (1995)
Glass Curtain (1990)

All of these were released before Nicholas Sparks even released his novel(The Notebook) back in 1996. Following your logic, he may very well have "carbon copied" or "ripped off" or "Xeroxed" or "photocopied" any or all of these movies. And, I didn't even list the novels! The list of novels is just too loooong.

There have been several more Alzheimer novels and movies after the The Notebook novel. The movie The Notebook may have actually ripped those off!!!

I am sorry but, you are an EPIC FAIL.

By the way, I think that you didn't even see the movie. You probably just read the synopsis and felt that your precious little movie and precious little Nicholas Sparks were threatened. Poor girl, fighting against a cruel world all alone :(

woah are you stupid?
the notebook had a completely different plot

and notice the dates

it's hollywood that always copies

get your facts straight.

reply

Dates in the movie plot or dates of release? Notebook actually came out first, but I don't think this has anything to do with copying. Haven't seen this movie yet but I know it's original. Every Korean movie I've ever seen has been original, very creative, and fun to watch. Unlike a lot of these Hollywood movies nowadays. Bollywood and hollywood should join together and make their fantastic original movies, mainly remakes.

now....the idea is the same....and now please dont tell me that my favorate novelis mr nicholas sparks copy his novel from that drama tooo.....i was suprise for those whos still think that this movie is original....i have watch so many korean film and sad to say that manny of them borrowed idea from hollywood movie .... the narative may be different but the plot is the same

reply

Do you have something against Korean films? You said, many of Korean films borrowed idea from Hollywood movies. Then which ones?

reply

I instantly thought of the movie "A walk to remember". Mostly because of the title, but also that both are sad romatic movies with a disease involved. Otherwise they are not that very similar.

Just wanted to share my opinion...

No Nicholas Sparks definately wrote the book first. However, A Moment to Remember was based on a 2001 Japanese drama that sounds nothing like the Notebook. The synopsis of Pure Soul is based on a letter written to her daughter and the movie revovles around the topics of that letter. I personally have not seen the drama, only read the plot. A Moment to Remember is also not much like the Notebook. Chul Soo does not read his and Sui Jin's love story everyday and the movie is not told like a flashback. Its a movie about how Chul Soo and Sui Jin find love and how that love is snatched away from them early. The Notebook is a young love story that is facing trouble because of Alzheimer's. So although the two movies involve the same disease, it does not mean A Moment to Remember is a remake of The Notebook. oh and fyi, The Lakehouse was a Hollywood remake of Il Mare, a Korean film. My Sassy Girl, a notoriously popular and original Koream film is being remade and released this year. Tale of Two Sisters, a creepy psycological thriller, is also being remade by some B-list cast. Those are just a few of recent KOREAN remakes. Dont even get me started on Japanese or Chinese/Hong Kong ones (The Departed which crammed Infernal Affairs I, II, & III together) bleh.

Dude have u lived under a rock the past 8 years.

Hollywood has stolen creative material from korean films for years here are some examples.

Old boy - Hollywood purchased the rights for the script and remake they will as the American Film industries only have money these days & no ideas for movies.

J.S.A (Joint Security Area) - American remake revolving the Mexican and North American border.

My Sassy Girl - Remade Literally as a Carbon Copy even Copied the Name.

The Chaser - Hollywood purchased the rights after unusual success at the Korean Box office about a real life Korean serial killer & the events that surrounded it. America will remake using the original story line and make their usual mess of things by signing up high profile Actors so they too can snatch up some Academy awards a la The Departed style.

A Moment to Remember - Although not an entire remake the elements of Alzheimer's & doomed relationship due to this illness is hard to miss as Carbon copied elements from the original.

Your evidence is weak and as many ppl already stated AMTR is based on a Korean source.

I suggest you do some research before blabbing your mouth Aye?
Or Maybe you should just shut it completely.

"Original". Your about as original as Bull$hit!

reply

in fact its mostly hollywood that steals movie plots from asia as far as i know.

Internal Affairs - The departed
Ringu - the ring
Dark water
And in gerneral a bunch of horror films.

And since this movie and the notebook came out the same year.... well.... Had to be really quick to rip the plot. Write the scenes and then make the movie.

Now if your justa fan of the Notebook. Thats all good.
But have to say.... this was away better.

reply

OT: I liked AMTR A LOT more than The Notebook...

masa_uia, What carbon copy? The movie is based on the Japanese drama (in year 2001). Don't believe me read

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Moment_to_Remember

The whole movie plot is different from Notebook. Although the theme (Alzheimer's disease) is the same BUT the plot is better at least. Sorry that I mention, Notebook ISN'T as good as AMTR. AMTR leaves me more LASTING impression than Notebook.

reply

The Classic, another Korean movie,is a lot better than "The Notebook".

'A Moment To Remember' was much better than 'The Notebook' for me and to be honest, the only main 'copy' with the two is that the ladies suffer from alzheimers disease. That's it because I believe the approach of the two films are very much different than they are the same.

'A Moment To Remember' for me focused more on how two people dealt with alzheimer disease together while 'The Notebook' focused on remembering how two people loved each other. Similiar in a sense but you can't ignore the difference.

Both films are romantically great to watch! :D
