Am I the only one?

Am I the only one that thought this was THE most boring piece of drivel to come out of Australia since Home and Away and Neighbors? I couldnt even make it through ONE episode, much less the whole DVD. *shakes head* It was in NO way whatsoever funny. I wish I had been warned before I rented the damn thing.

To the person who started this conversation, 'KisaNZ'
Um, yes, you are the only person to think that, but you know what, screw your opinion, you're from New Zealand, you don't even count as a person.

In her defence, Home and Away and Neighbours are pretty boring =P

Summer Heights High - This Wednesday! Get excited people

- To me that's funny, and I don't wanna live in a world where that's not -

Well, I'm from Australia, and I thought this show was pretty awful. A comedy is supposed to surprise you with it's jokes, but all the characters were totally one-note. Chris Lilley is a terrific performer, but he can't write to save his pet hamster's life. All the stories I've seen lately calling him a "comic genius" make me throw up in my own scorn (if you can tell me where that line comes from, you *do* have a sense of humour).

We're all in it together.

reply

No your not!
I also thought this was boring and pointless I watched two episodes and gave up!

Don't say Kiwi's don't understand or get Aussie humor. How do you know? I'm a Kiwi and I love this show as well as Summer Heights High. Kiwi's love Aussie humor. I love Dave Hughs and Carl Barron. I've lived here for 7 years and I remember watching The Castle the first year I was here and I remember not getting ALL the jokes but I loved this movie. So please don't say things when you don't know for sure if it's true.

reply

No. It's not funny, amusing, clever or satirical. It's amateurish and embarrassing.

reply

Oh my gosh, if you hate We Can Be Heroes, Summer Heights High or Chris Lilley in general then why are you here?! Seriously, get a life. Nobody wants to hear your s***, K?

I thought I'd just comment as I just watched the entire series in one sitting and must say that it is one of the most brilliantly crafted comedies I've seen in ages. And yes, I am from New Zealand, but judging from what's popular here, I'm not surprised that you don't like it. No, it doesn't feature old women complaining about the neighbour's many cats, people falling head first down obstacle courses, nor is it set in three-quarters of a living room. It's about real people that you learn to relate to and even to love, which is a difficult task within only six short episodes and only one man acting as all these incredibly funny characters. I've laughed, cried, and cried while laughing through every single episode. But if it's not your cup of tea, that's fine. But don't you ever compare it to Neighbours.

Oh yeah, and no lititia, I couldn't find it anywhere in stores and I don't recall it being on television here. I had to borrow it from my Australian friend. Maybe you should just buy the series online. It's definately worth it.

We shan't be telling your mother about this shan't we???

No you're not. It's not just unfunny, it's offensive; homophobic and racist. I mean, Yellowface? In the 21st century?!

I have never watched his shows before as they looked pretty bad. And I thought Chris Lilley was so annoying.

I finally saw a repeat of We Can Be Heroes late one night on the ABC. I was just skipping through stations before I went to bed and wasn't really interested but after 5 minutes, I had to watch the rest.

It was awesome. Reminded me of The Office(UK) with the whole "embarrass yourself" type humour.

Now I want to see the whole series.

Aussie comedy is often hit and miss but this was excellent.

You are missing silly sensibilities. I am in the Los Angeles,CA and totally get Chris Lilley. Ithink he is brilliant!
