Did Any Of You Like Charlie?

Are we supposed to like Charlie? Half of the time, I wanted to slap the ish out of him.

Amanda: "Aren't you gay?"
Nick: "Only around you"

Aw I loved Charlie, he was so sweet and quirky.

We're not free. Circumstance is what controls me, just like everyone else.

I was torn between smacking him and giving him a hug. I understand that he's just a kid, and he was doing what he thought was helping his classmates, but it's true that he did do some selfish things in the name of popularity. But, once again, just a teenager. However, he obviously went about trying to help them in the wrong way. Mostly, I just felt bad for Principal Gardner. He was a good guy who got absolutely no respect, hated his job, was ignored and tolerated by his daughter, and in walks this cocky kid who immediately gains the respect of the entire student body. I also disliked the majority of the kdis in this movie, always complaining about one thing or another (like the cameras in the student lounge). As that lounge in on school property, it's totally within the school's rights to install cameras. They should just be thankful to have a lounge, I never had anything like that when I was in highschool. I know, all they wanted was to be heard by adults, to be treated with respect themselves, but how can they whine about nobody listening to them and hearing out their arguments when their arguments consist of things like "that's bullsh!t"? Sorry for the rant, they just really pissed me off. Their teenagers, not starved children in third world countries. They don't have much to complain about.

Hitting a PARENT in front of his DAUGHTER is NOT COOL. In any sense,
I WANT TO KILL CHARLIE

If we stay the course, we are dead! WE ARE ALL DEAD!

reply

No, he was very annoying.

I only watched this movie until the end because I was hoping that Charlie would somehow suffer a horrifically tragic death. If I could jump into the movie and bitchslap his annoying character to death that would've made for a much better ending. This movie was garbage and Yelchin's character was lame and monotonous. There's a reason why Yelchin hasn't gotten any good roles since this movie, he sucks.

Charlie is lovable because he doesn't blindly follow social stigma, he's "judgment-free".

He doesn't have a problem sitting next to (???) in the bus when most people (even "good people") would, he doesn't have a problem with (???) being gay or with (???) being depressed, etc. It comes to him naturally, he genuinely sees things the way they are (not the way society says they are). It took me a lot of years to un-condition myself from thinking things like "gay/fat/handicapped/weird is gross/bad", those things are implanted in our brains from a young age whether we want it or not. He's immune to that. It's awesome. Also, he's hot.
