Sergio Leone Would've Loved This

An absolute stunner of a Western. Like the best Leone films, you could almost feel the dust and heat and smell the stink of unwashed bodies. And the flies! If you watch with headphones you'll feel like swatting your face every few minutes.

Excellent script by Nick Cave (yes, that Nick Cave) and gritty direction by John Hillcoat (who also directed the equally gritty The Road). The entire cast was superb down to the bit players with one or two lines. The layered story encompasses family (what would you do if you had two psychopaths as brothers?), colonialism, race, and mankind's frequent desire for revenge above law and order.

Food in Films: Charlie gets down to his basic carnivore with his rabbit supper--meat, fire, and a really big knife.
