Ok, as someone who saw the 7.X rating and thought "wow, must be a decent movie!" and then spent 90 minutes wondering if I should just shut it off or not...
THIS IS A CRAP FILM. Laughably bad in fact.
So don't be fooled by the ratings or glowing reviews, the only way I can rationalize this is Fox Pictures or whoever has some kind of giant sock-puppet team that is manipulating things here.
To think anything less would cause me to lose hope for my fellow man.
Its actually a great film.
I would put it up there with Training Day.
When you look at films like Cloverfield and Dark Knight with big ratings, then you realize something is wrong.
Eg I walked out of Cloverfield thinking that Polanski directed it, because paying 10 bucks for that was like getting raped by Polanski himself.
It is a great film. I actually think it deserves higher than a 7. I too could give a crap about Cloverfield, The Dark Knight, or even Iron Man for that matter. It really boggles my mind what people consider good films these days.

no it's not terrible, some of the photography is good, the story is good (albeit predictable).
it's weird, i found myself liking it even after the very first few minutes when i had realised what a turkey it was. i guess because i like the main actors, even though they failed to deliver in this.. (spectacularly!)

It's because this is one of the greatest guilty pleasures of the last few years, the movie is so over the top bad, filled with cliches that it's just amazing.

I was entertained throughout the entire film, it was almost like a parody of L.A cop movies, it took parts of training day, had Keanu giving his classic point break performance.
I think it's gold.
Forget the haters, I thought it was very good. And I thought Keanu gave a very good and believable performance. If this was "cliche" then, I guess Dark Blue was too.

whats wrong with IMDB? Everything, including your comment, OP. This movie was actually pretty good, although predictable, but hey, so are the tried-and-true ways of corrupt cops all over the world.

It has good action scenes and decent pacing . that deserves at least 6. and for once a black guy is a villain (and good role for Forest Whitaker) -thats one point more
