Just a little question.......

I know this doesn't really make any difference......but just wondering....was Veer a Sikh or a Hindu? I was a bit confused!

reply

He was Hindu, Bebe was Sikh. =)

its unclear, he wears a sikh symbol the khanda around his neck, his last name is also a very common sikh last name (singh, which is also used by hindu's) yet hes refered to as hindu by others in the movie.

so its not clear, i think he was meant to be sikh.

reply

I think he's a Hindu. Isn't that what Rani Mukherji said to that prison guard? Something about a lone Hindu prisoner in Pakistan having Allah's holy number?

Wouldn't know about the Sikh symbols and stuff.

reply

There are singhs in Hindus as wells as Sikhs. My limited knowledge says that Hindu Singhs - found in U.)P, Rajasthan, M.P - are by and large mostly Rajputs.

reply

Well ur all wrong. SRK in the rol of Veer P. Singh portrayes a SIKH in the movie. He is reffered by Rani and all other pakistani's as HINDU becoz he's from HINDUSTAN ( a non-muslim ).

reply

he was sikh....veer pratab singh....i think.but it doesnt really matter

reply

im chaudhry rahul singh , it doesnt make me a sikh , or a muslim
veer pratap singh was hindu , the family which took care of him was of a hindu , amitabh bacchan was a punjabi , and punjabi's are not sikh's
sikh's take pride in their turbans
basically its shown to be a punjabi jat family , just like today we have jat sikhs , they have someone in their ancestral line as a hindu and just cos they live in a state where sikhism is common , families adopt the same culture
im chaudhry rahul singh , it doesnt make me a sikh , or a muslim
my dad is narender singh , doesnt make him a sikh
thank u

reply

She was Muslim and he was Hindu

Neither are Sikhs. There is the scene where she goes to drop off the ashes at the temple. He tells her something about how they can’t do the Sikh rituals because they’re not Sikh
