I like it a lot more than the 2003 remake

The brutality, the sense of character...everything about it just sort of works better than the remake, in my opinion.

I also like the ending a lot more. The ending to this film has guts, it's like a punch in the stomach in a good way...the ending to the remake was just sort of the typical 'final girl' ending.

I re-watched it recently and forgot how bloody and overly gory it was!

Yeah, I like this one a bit more than the first remake. I could not feel sorry for the first group of characters at all. but this group of characters, I felt sorry for them that they had to fell victim to them. but it did make for a good movie.

I love both the platinum dunes efforts. I generally lean towards the 2003 film being better...but I don't know, they're neck and neck.

This one has more gore (it's by far the best gore effort in the whole TCM franchise), it has a more sunkissed bright aesthetic (more inline with the original as opposed to the beautiful but faded in color 2003 film), the characters are just as good as '03 arguably even better. It also recreated the dinner scene from the original which was missing from the '03 film. The OST is great too.

Also the pacing! When I watched this last night and paused it to get another beverage, I saw it only had 10 minutes left which shocked me. The film flew by and the finale is short and sweet. It's a difference from the prolonged chase scenes of the original and remake (those chase scenes go on forever)...not sure if I prefer the shorter finale or not but it's something different and worked fine.
