When I first watched this film,

I truly loved it - still do- but I knew I've seen this story before.

With a bit reminiscing and some imdb'ing, the two shows/episodes calmed my theory.

1) Night Visions (2001, 2002; Episode: 'Hate Puppet' (Sep. 2001)
Horror novelist is cursed to cause murderous rage towards him by
everyone.
(More of a dark themed episode.)

2) The Twilight Zone (2002-2004); Episode: 'Gabe's Story' (Dec 2002)
A man with consistent bad luck hits his head in minor car accident and
gains the ability to see where his bad luck comes from.
(More of a dark-comedy themed episode.)

I love these to shows more than the film, but the film still holds up.
