As an Afghan woman, some of these replies are seriously pissing me off. I know a lot of these comments were posted in 2009 or so, but the racism and ignorance some of you guys have about Afghanistan is startling. You guys do realize Afghanistan was NOT always like this, right? We are not "savages" or "tribal people who have always killed each other". It wasn't until the Soviet Occupation of Afghanistan when everything spiraled out of control and nothing was ever the same again. However, before the Soviet Occupation, Afghanistan was actually quite a beautiful country and my parents have always shared with me the fond memories they have of our home country (pre-Soviet invasion). To the person who said "the war in Afghanistan was absolutely justified", umm no, actually it wasn't. Both the Iraq War and the war in Afghanistan were horrible and should have never happened, so please stop saying that the Afghan one was "the good one".
As for the person who said something along the lines of "What would the US want from Afghanistan? That country has nothing but poppies." You are so painfully ignorant and naive. Afghanistan has many natural resources (such as lithium, which Afghanistan has a vast amount of) and also natural gasses. Furthermore, the US is also occupying Afghanistan for its geopolitical location. The fact that Afghanistan borders countries like Iran, China, Pakistan, and isn't that far away from India and Russia is no doubt considered an advantage from America's point of view. Yeah. God forbid there are people who are oppressed by America's enemy. Who cares about them.
If this movie is about white enslave blacks, or priest molest children, you will buy them.
But god forbid this movie is about the atrocity committed by Talibans. It is so hard for you to swallow.
