am i the only one who thinks dakota fanning is scary?

seriously, little girls singing and stuff is just frightening to me. war of the worlds, hide and seek, etc...aaah.

reply

I find her very cute, and mature. You can't judge her by her acting. Plus if you see interviews with her, she seems like a very nice girl.

reply

little girls having talents, and not hiding them is scary?

And she doesn't sing.

If you're going to criticize someone, atleast pay attention to what they do and don't do.

reply

She's mature, and yes, a great actress. She's out-acted every star she's been in a movie with: Sean Penn, Robert DeNiro, Kurt Russell, Denzel, Tom Cruise, Chris Walken, Kevin Bacon, Alec Baldwin, Tim Robbins, Mike Myers, Kris Kristofferson, Elizabeth Shue (twice), Brittany Murphy, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianne Wiest, Laura Dern, Shannon Elizabeth, Jake Busey, Jaime Pressly, Reese Witherspoon, Patrick Dempsey, Candice Bergen, Fred Ward, Famke Janssen, Charlize Theron, Courtney Love, Stuart Townsend, Kelly Preston, Mark Anthony, etc. etc. etc.

I'm surprised she doesn't have an Oscar already for I AM SAM or MAN ON FIRE.

She is a lot overexposed though... those directors need to find other kids to put in their movies too... but there's not much to work with.

"IF YOU DON'T HAVE SOMETHING NICE TO SAY DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL."

"MY name's thumper; my friends call me thumper (echo: call me thumper). THUMPER! (Echo: THUMPER!)

Bambi anyone?

...OR how about a VHS copy of 'Nat'l Velvet'?

"That piercing gaze is also her charm because she doesn't seem aware of it nor does she use it like a weapon"

It's a bird...it's a plane...no, it's SUPER DAKOTA! She can leap buildings in a single bound, stop freight trains, and use her all-powerful x-ray vision...
(Which is why she has those kind of eyes...) : )

"She's like a pale Yoda"

"To fight her, we must..."

"JEALOUSY, that is what I see in most all of these responses... just bitter, low self esteem, jealousy!
[I] hope all your lives will become more pleasant and I hope that God will
bless all of you with just one glorious opportunity to DO something as amazing as one quarter of what Dakota has
managed to accomplish in 10 short years of her life."

(Sings) "The best things in life are free and are right before your eyes."

...Ooops, wrong song.

Lol, she's in a movie and she's a youngie--I have nothing personally against her
but what kind of accomplishment is it to star in a movie at a super young
age? YEah, it would be pretty cool, but I mean, there's more to life then
that. You kinda make it sound like it's some sort of milestone--like getting
your college diploma or something.

Yeah, it's great that she stars in a few movies, but so did Shirley Temple.

Anyways...

"Now, DF is an absolute ringer for me twenty-something years ago, and I
turned out to be just about the most voluptuous, talented (in my field),
modest and haltingly beautiful woman one could ever wish to meet. Now I
ask you, is THAT scary?"

...Pardon me ma'am, but I think that more than likely, you would probably look better then she does in a movie. : ) And no, that isn't scary...that's "pretty" good actually. : D

"...if you think she's scary now, that pales in comparison to how scary
she is likely to be by the time she's as old as say, Lindsay Lohan."

Lindsay is the prime example of taking an innocent, beautiful child and
teaching them materialism. Now THAT'S what's sad...

...And yes, I hope they don't succeed in brainwashing Dakota too!

"...you *should* appreciate a talented actress who has the ability
to reflect completely and beautifully the characters she has played."

...Even when she seems like a vampire... : ) J/k.

All in all, I think she's kinda cute and yes, she just might be able to
star in a few other movies. As for those of you who freak out every
time you hear about her or see her, next time she stars in the newest release,
throw the covers over your head and play Luigi's Mansion for an hour...

...Hopefully, you should be cured of your fear of Dakota. : )

DISCLAIMER: I am not a real doctor. However, I do advise that those of
you who have a problem with Dakota, should resolve your differences with
her. : )

Now, to find her e-mail...oh well, I guess you're doomed to playing Luigi's Mansion for an hour every time you hear her name...

:D

Dakota scares me in the sense that she's a very young kid but she talks like a 45 year old ... it's just wierd hearing a kid talk the way she does - and I don't mean in movies, I mean in interviews...

I can't decide if life is passing me by, or trying to run me down...

Hopefully the posters who wrote such nasty things about Dakota Fanning are:

a) jealous junior-high schoolers who will soon outgrow their infantile behavior or

b) sorry souls who treated very badly while growing up (which still doesn't make it right to pick on anyone).

Just because she is famous doesn't make her any less deserving of simple human respect. Grow up.

Are you her agent? If so you should tell her to act like a kid and not some pedo's fantasy.

Whether she “acts like a kid” or not, pedophiles like children, so they’d want to mess with her either way. If you don’t like Dakota, fine. But that comment was as sick as the pedophiles you mention.

but not nearly as sick as necrophiliac-pedophiles

I've never seen her smile off camera seriously.

LOL! This thread is hilarious!

I have to agree that this girl is disturbingly mature. Even my mom says with a shudder, "That girl has no innocence."

Maybe someone has stolen her innocence. Or maybe she did indeed kill a man in Reno. I don't know. What I do know is that she consistently plays a 40 year-old trapped in a 10 year-old body. I know there are very few scripts that include such a scenario, so either Dakota needs to broaden her range, or Hollywood needs to start looking for the next It Girl.

Man I agree, this thread IS hilarious! Maybe they're right though. Look at the bums & hacks she's had to work with!:):):)

As far as her teeth and smile, good heavens people, give her a break! The movie industry is tough enough on adult actors much less teens or in this case a very young girl. Time will tell whether she becomes a young alcholic like Drew B. or like so many of the other teens that can't seem to cope with simply growing up. We shall see.

All brilliant people are "scary"..
Ordinary people find them scary because they don't understand them.

I think she's very talented.
I hope she'll be in better movies though.

reply

ordinary people find brilliant people scary?

what the hell is wrong with you?
what kind of warped perception of the world do you have?
people find her scary because she was like 9 and talked like a 45 year old. She completely forfeited her childhood and I'm positive it'll have serious repercussions on her later on. Just watch.

"people find her scary because she was like 9 and talked like a 45 year old."
and that scares you?
boo!
LMAO

"what the hell is wrong with you? "
I was like that when I was young.. so I can relate.

"She completely forfeited her childhood and I'm positive it'll have serious repercussions on her later on. Just watch."
That's true for all child-actors/actresses. That's a different story.

reply

replace "scary" with "unnerving" if you absolutely must nitpick.

reply

shes a good actress...very good for her age. but she'll only continue if she progresses as she grows older...

if everyone tells her shes an amazing young actress all the time she might not carry on getting better. she might just carry on doing the sameeee thing over and over again. kindof like that 'scared' face she keeps doing like in war of the worlds.

reply

I too was very mature for my age, I never made friends in school because of it. I did not forfeit my childhood, and I never had any repercussions. I don't know if she will.
Too often child star's parents allow them to do anything, and unfortunately that's exactly what they do, like out buying drugs at night at only 12 years old, or boozing until they puke. What are their parents thinking, what are they thinking?
I've drunk booze only 2 times, once when I was 3 and at a fishing camp with my dad, a guy had a Budweiser beer, and I wanted one because it had horses on it, so my dad said give her one, I drank it and said "this tastes like horse piss!"
That she can think maturely may keep her from destroying herself as too many child stars have, thinking their some sort of god.

reply

"Just watch"

I have. And she's turned into a brilliant actress (along with her sister) with none of the meltdowns we so often see as child actors age.

So, you couldn't have been more wrong.

Oh, and yeah, ordinary people do find brilliant people to be scary. Ordinary people see that they don't have the abilities brilliant people do, and it scares them to know that they are, indeed, ordinary.

reply

It's true! You ARE rancid...in more ways than one. Education, class, and good taste are wasted on someone like you, so grow up, kid.
