Kristen's performance

Although Kristen is the current "new sh*t" right about now, I haven't really seen a lot of movies starring the young starlight that really allows her to stretch her acting legs.
Years ago she was definitely the one to watch for after seeing "Panic Room". Her movies since ("The Messengers", "Twilight", etc) are certainly entertaining and she does well, but definitely not much to work with.
I thought this movie as a whole was good...definitely not life altering but good. And I have to say that it made me think twice about her acting skills. The moment her first scene kicked in she broke my heart and I couldn't keep my eyes off of her. She was consistent and genuine and believable. Well done :)

The first film I saw Kristen in was Into the Wild and there was just something about her. She's got a really special quality and I was really impressed. I think this film demonstrates that same quality in her. I thought it was a very strong performance and I adored the film.

I agree that Kristen's performance in this was excellent, so strong. A tough role to play, a disabled teen, and she did it so well, so convincingly.

This will always be favourite performance from Kristen. She was so good in it.

I LOVED this movie! Not only was she great in it, but the story was so unique and completely believable. Why didn't she get more attention/recognition for this? I guess she wasn't famous enough yet. I liked this movie so much that I will probably buy it.

I know. She should've gotten all of the awards for this performance. To watch this and go watch Adventureland, or The Runaways...It's an incredible difference.

Outstanding performance by Kristen in this one -- just saw it for the first time (and there will be more viewings). I also recently saw her in Welcome to the Rileys. Kristen, along with James Gandolfini (The Sopranos) and Melissa Leo (Oscar winner), gave touching, wonderful performances.

I feel that Kristen did a great job in this role. She met with a couple of teens with the illness to familiarize herself with it and with them. She and the director tried to keep it private and compassionate, realizing the teens had a difficult illness. I thought it interesting that after a movie showing the director was asked where she found someone with the illness who could also act, as they felt the job Kristen did was so real.

Yes, I'd read that (somewhere), and I also remember that the teens with Friedreich's ataxia both cried when they saw this movie for the first time -- mentioning how Kristen captured so perfectly how people with the syndrome move and speak.

Wow, that's quite a response from the teens with this illness. Hope it gave them some comfort and also that the film brings more notice and research on this illness.
