Best line in the movie...

Although I couldn't figure out what this movie was about (it seemed like an excuse to watch Matt Dillon chain smoke all the flippin' time and not much more), I chuckled when at his parents' house, right before being kicked out by his father, addressing his father by his first name and saying,

"And I also need a piece of ass." ROFL

Only line in the movie that had me chuckling out loud!

"Do you mind if I leave now?" After one of his bosses introduces him to another writer.

reply

The crabs. You gave me the crabs.

the best one he says is i got drunk 3 days and 3 nights then i realized my job was gone

Taling about what his book is about with the interviewer.

"Is it about cancer?"
"Yep."
"What about... my wife?"
"...She's in there too."

Tomorrow is my birthday.

When he said that he decided to clean the apartment, so "I must be turning into a fag." Hilarious, as most of the movie, esp. the first hour. Bukowski rules!

she took it like a sharp knife

All of his lines or mostly all of them were quite funny. Generally, the fact that Dillon was narrating much of the movie was very funny.

reply

"Yeah. [pause] It's about everything."

reply

Can't remember exactly how he put it, but I liked what he said about writing when he feels down about it, that he need only read other writers to realize he's not that bad. He was right.

reply

Hell... 30 minutes?? I'll leave it on all night to kill every one of these *beep* That was awesome:D

reply

"She took it like it was knife that was killing her."

Inspired.

"When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing."

reply

same lines as you,brightmidnight71, also the interview, also when he talks about his book at the interview
oh, and 'It's just the fire department.'

reply

The best was when he was trying to figure out what time it was because the clock was off by 35 minutes every hour. "It's 5:47!"

Another good line was after he was disqualified from the Taxi job (well the reason he was dq'd was funny too) was "Can you call me a cab?" Then of course, the next scene he's shown getting off the bus.
