I was talking about Sam Riley over on the HT thread so here's a scene from P&P&Z featuring his rather raspy voice: https://youtu.be/743Vp5HT6hA
And amazing to see this ad published yesterday gaining so many views in such a short time - The new Burberry ad: https://youtu.be/6D5IZtDCS5c ❤
Bonus: James Norton and Vanessa Kirby's Smythson ad: https://youtu.be/UZ31Vx0lMWM
Thanks for those lois. Although the Burberry ad link won't open for me.
Sam Riley does have a raspy voice.
Leonard Cohen passed away recently at the age of 82. RIP
Here is the Pentatonix cover of his most famous song "Hallelujah" from their new Christmas album, A Pentatonix Christmas: https://youtu.be/LRP8d7hhpoQ

That makes me all sleepy as well. 😀
As for Leonard Cohen - that's a great version of Hallelujah, but my favourite song of his is Suzanne: '...and she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from China' - love that line. You can smell the oranges and imagine the tea clipper and a time when China was not hours away but months and the delivery would depend on the monsoon in the China See and tradewinds over the Indian Ocean.
The term 'tradewinds' alone makes me all giddy with the old travel bug. Would love to go on a sailing cruise one day (once they invent an ocean which doesn't make you seasick )
Oh - look at this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Tea_Race_of_1866
In the middle third of the 19th Century, the clippers which carried cargoes of tea from China to Britain would compete in informal races to be first ship to dock in London with the new crop of each season. The Great Tea Race of 1866 was keenly followed in the press, with an extremely close finish. Taeping docked 28 minutes before Ariel - after a passage of more than 14,000 miles.
The John Lewis ad was sooooooo cuttttteeee!!! Thanks for that Laura.
After watching it, watch this parody version: https://youtu.be/ieqTTPNtkRo

How adorable was Lullaby Dog? Awwww!

That's lovely Merej. Reading about your recent trip was wonderful as well. Glad you had such a lovely time. Thank you for all the pics as well!

I’m quite a good sailor, except for once on a very choppy North Sea on the way to Norway. But I had just eaten a large cream cake as well. LOL!
The North Sea can be really rough from what I hear.
And that was on one of those big ferries.
Here's a Video of Suzanne. It's a bit hard to find a good quality one, so here's one with the lyrics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUXC_dhQHzY
The ship we were on was a converted ferry. I've done three cruises with the same company, not for a few years though. I've never been on one of the large cruise ships. I couldn't afford it, but to be honest I'm not sure I would like to be one too large.
What a beautiful song. I have it in my head now
Where did those cruises take you?
It was really lovely. There were also about a dozen people coming over and hugging us goodbye when we left the ship which was totally unexpected
That Norway Fjords cruise is one of the trips I want to make one day.
Good Thing you took Turkey-Egypt-Jordan cruise in 2005. With the current situation it looks like it won't be safe to go to those countries for a long time.
Looks like I put off going to Egypt for too long😖

I just saw this as well. Buzz the boxer enjoying the advert. Sooo cute!!! I sorta thought he'd bark at the screen or something but how adorable of him to be jumping up and down like that! Awwww.... share

Awwww.....lovely ad Laura! 👏 👍I hope they win the ad award for "Ad of the year"!
And if you are curious about the music, it is "I Giorni" by Ludovico Einaudi. I know I've linked it here before but here is it again: https://youtu.be/r0gzCptvSSA
That's brilliant. 😂
Reminds me of Datteltäter*'s magic carpet ride through Berlin last summer - wishing people a happy Ramadan and distributing dates (which are traditionally eaten to break the fast 😋 )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IleHUx3e-yU
😀
'Datteltäter' = 'date (the fruit) criminals'

Thanks for those links Lois and merej.
shareWhat a great bunch of videos, ladies. Aww...I absolutely LOVE the Boxer and all those animals on the trampoline. It's magical! And the bull terrier cross being "sung to" sleep.
I love pretty much any version of Hallelujah" although I am partial to Jeff Buckley's rendition. I've always loved the song ''Suzanne'...it brings back memories of years gone by...and even though I think Leonard Cohen sang "flat" most of the time (at least to my ears) he was a brilliant talent who will be sadly missed.
Thanks for all those videos, ladies, great selection. They're terrific. And I can NOT believe the places you have traveled, merej (and Laura!). Thank you guys for sharing your adventures with us.

Couldn't view that one, Laura. It's "unavailable" in our country. But I trust your great taste.

Just a couple of videos I want to share from late night talk shows....
- Emilia Clarke, Cara Delevingne (and Jake Gyllenhaal) "Eyebrow off" on The Graham Norton Show: https://youtu.be/JZDOZlGckOQ
- Eddie Redmayne's magic trick on TGNS: https://youtu.be/9okQKRnEn-Q
"Blow harder" Sooo cute the face Eddie makes after he pulls out his "sword"
- Michael McIntyre's joke tested on Rosamund Pike and Chris Martin on TGNS: https://youtu.be/uJEqXJRK4Q4
"Hanky panky" (I love how this word made an appearance on the HT thread recently) Love Rosamund Pike's and Chris Martin's responses after....super smart the lot of them! 👏
-James Marsden's Matthew McConaughey impression on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: https://youtu.be/PUW0_GO7UX8?t=7m16s
👍
Thank you for those. lois! No better way to start the week than with a good laugh (or five) 😀
After all is said and done, a lot more will have been said than done.
Thanks for the morning laugh Lois. I loved those, especially the Eddie Redmayne and Michael McIntyre ones.
shareYou're welcome ladies! I'm glad you enjoyed them.
And I don't know why I typed ER's "sword" instead of "wand"
BTW, I just made my new Pottermore account last night (since the old one won't work anymore with the new site) and I got a pretty sweet wand myself: Vine wood with dragon heartstring core, 12 3/4", slightly yielding. ✨
And I'm a Ravenclaw now (!) when before on the old site I was a Hufflepuff; very pleased since it actually makes more sense to me.
And my Patronus is...get this...a Salmon!! 🐟 LOL! I think it's pretty cool actually. Eagle (Ravenclaw's symbol) meets Salmon... Funny enough Evie Lynch who played Luna Lovegood in the movies also got a salmon patronus. So that means, I'm pretty much Looney Luna!!
I know you lot are doing this: but I wanted to share!
I love Luna!
Also I bet a salmon would look a lot cooler fending off a dementor than some stodgy old stag.
After all is said and done, a lot more will have been said than done.
The cat's face is a picture.

Is she wearing a harness and secured to the seat? Why doesn't she just move?? Hysterical, " barely tolerant" expression.
That wouldn't happen here, although Athena would definitely do the same thing if she could get away with it.Smokey would throw a big hissy fit and claws would definitely come out.
Loved that, Laura.
Is she wearing a harness and secured to the seat? Why doesn't she just move??
Loved that, Laura.
Maybe she is just stubborn
They're soo cute Laura!!
It looks a bit terrified until she semi-nuzzled against the (overexcited) dog's fur. Aww...adorable!
This is cool.

I heard Niall Horan's single, This Town, on the radio the other day and when I checked it out, I saw this ammmmazing lyric video: https://youtu.be/ic1l36GrNOU 💝
In the description it says: Animator Marius Franc interpreted Niall’s “This Town” lyrics, hand drawing over 1,800 illustrations that make up this stop motion lyric video. 👏
Love that. Thanks for posting Lois.
shareOnly just got around to watching this - it's brilliant. Can't believe how much work goes into something like this.

Growing up watching "Growing Pains", Alan Thicke was one of my favourite TV dads.
The pleasure in seeing him on TV these days one way or another, only reaffirmed what a cool Canadian cad he was.
Sad to know that his time is done now especially so soon after seeing him in the pilot episode of "This is Us" playing himself.
Here are some of the tributes from his fellow GP cast members, including Kirk Cameron and Leonardo diCaprio: http://www.eonline.com/news/815877/growing-pains-stars-leonardo-dicaprio-kirk-cameron-and-more-pay-tribute-to-alan-thicke?utm_source=eonline&utm_medium=rssfeeds&utm_campaign=imdb_topstories
RIP Alan Thicke. 🇨🇦
So unexpected and so, so sad. Thanks for sharing this Lois.
RIP Alan Thicke.🇨🇦
I never watched Growing Pains so I didn't know him. But so sad to hear of another death of someone so young. So many deaths this year.
They played this at church this morning.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=In8ZkPaZJFE
Particularly relevant for us as we have a few asylum seekers from Iran in our congregation who were persecuted in their own country. One in particular who has been a member of the congregation for several years and attends every week, has just had his application turned down. Despite support from our minister the Home Office said that they do not believe he is a practising Christian. What else can he do to prove it? He is appealing the decision. Good news though that another family from Pakistan who attend our church had their application accepted recently and they have been allowed to stay.
Awww....how adorable are those kids!
Terrible about the man from your church being rejected. I don't know how else he can prove that he is a practising Christian. I wonder what their screeing process is and how they come to that decision.
A video with a very definite message. Aww...I feel for these people. I hope that the gentleman from your church will find a way and get accepted.
Thanks for posting this, Laura.

Saw this one by chance today... That kind of male attitude rings a bell, somehow What a cool dad! Great sense of humour! I think it's nice a father can be involved in their daughter's life and pays attention to what is going with her, brushes and all! LOL Great job dad!

It's not just you - her skin is perfect without the make-up. So obviously she nees to cover it with LOADS of makeup to make it look like it's perfect and she's not waring any make-up.
I love how the appearence of the 'naked' nude-look makeup item gives her poor dad a rather shocked moment's pause.
The daugher of my best friend is 17 and whenever I visit them I bite my tongue and don't comment on her makeup. But seriously - those massive eyebrows she keeps painting on her beautiful face should have their own postal code and license plate.
It's just a phase, right?
After all is said and done, a lot more will have been said than done.
But seriously - those massive eyebrows she keeps painting on her beautiful face should have their own postal code and license plate. Soo true!

Aww.
Amazing to read of all his charitable works now that he's passed and people are coming forward with his random acts of kindness.
