Why wasen't the holidaytspecial mentioned?

I surprised that this documentry did not mention the Star Wars Holiday special. I geuss Lucas really hates it.

In some interviews he kind of implies that he disowns it. Who wouldn't? I don't think he had that much to do with the holiday special, there is no way in all nine Corellian hells that he could make something that bad.

For it being inspired by the variety shows that were very popular in the 70s I enjoyed it a lot. It's better than any shit Star Wars movie put out by Disney.

No, they showed a short clip of it in the Buckethead documentary in the AotC DVD. I think they originally had a 10 minute part about the Special but it got taken out because it didn't fit in with the rest of the show.

In other words George didnt want it in the documentary as The Star Wars Holiday Special doesnt fit his 'vision' of Star Wars.

Personally, I think Lucas should acknowledge it and give it an official release. I heard somewhere that it is one of the biggest selling bootleg DVDs in history. How this was measured I dont know, but I read it somewhere.

Lucas HATES the Holiday Special, and has disowned it. He once claimed he wished he could hunt down every copy still existing, and smash them with a hammer.

If you see it, you'll hate it too. Take my word on this one. Lucas was right not to mention it.
