Topher Grace should not have gained 24 lbs for this movie.

Quite frankly at his size not being super freaky big like Schwarzenegger I can barely notice or the way I notice it doesn't even matter, but if he lost 24 lbs or just even stayed the same, and didn't gain it in the first place, Spiderman would have looked super big, or at least bigger, considering how close they look.

If he was playing Spiderman, then maybe, but when he looks so much like Spiderman in and out of costume, it would make more sense to stay lean with it. Bigger dramatic effect.

James Franco is another one. He played the hunk in Freaks and Geeks and it doesn't really make much of a difference, since he's not getting on the freaky big scale for the peacocking effect, why doesn't he just stay lean?

It's a better world for everyone else saving on our health if actors don't gain massive weight excessively for roles... and then the one guy that does has more from it too so it's a better lesson for us and more dramatic for that individual really trying to flare up from his own look.

Quite frankly when they get these nice tough guy bodies but the standard is so high I can't even really tell that much of a difference between Venom and Eric Foreman anymore given the difference in context. But if one guy should have done it above all, it had to take away from Tobey M too.

I agree. He didn't look much different than he did as Eric Foreman. Then again Raimi wasn't a fan of the character and would never have gotten anybody that was actually big and muscular for the role. Hopefully someone will do Eddie Brock/Venom justice someday.

It definitely not going to be the MCU, considering how many iconic villains they have butchered.

Grace was a terrible Venom, but he could've been a pretty good Eddie Brock. But it's insane how someone can gain 24 pounds of pure muscle and still look like a total dweeb.

i feel bad for the guy. people are to hard on topher grace. he is a good actor who gets typecasted into playing dweebs and dorks. he was awsome as the villain in predator 3. i feel bad that he had to gain 24 pounds of muscle for literally zero reason. he never has a shirtless scene and wears baggy clothes the entire film so its totally pointless. and 24 pounds of muscle is very hard work that takes months, even years. all that work for nothing.
