Misinformational Movie of the Year?

As a liscenced falconer myself, I find it hard to believe that Hollywood is going to show the amount of work, effort, money, dedication, and studying needed to train a red tailed hawk. I currently fly a red tail and i have little faith that this movie will portry anything close to what is required, to train a wild raptor.

I seriously hope i am wrong, but if not, then i can only guess at the slew of people who will be illegally attmpting to gain access to a red tailed hawk, as they are protected by the migratory bird treaty act, and you must be liscenced to possess one.

I see it as something close to flipper or lassie, only with a hawk.

I agree with you actually. I think that we need to be careful in these kinds of films because they can cause people to look at animals and believe they can look after them with minimal effort. It can lead to animals being mistreated which none of us want.

However, I also think that it's important to focus on those selling certain animals. It's as much their responsibility to sell to the right people as it is others to be educated in the effort it takes to care for it. There are too many charlatans selling wonderful creatures to idiots that get bored after a couple of weeks because it's too much like hard work.

I haven't seen the film yet but I would hope that it makes some reference to the fact that these kinds of creatures are not toys and not for amateurs.

Well said CaptBarbosa ;) Unlike dogs for instance (who have an almost symbiotic relationship with us) birds of prey are wild animals! To keep a bird like that in captivity is something I've always hated. It's a status symbol, an exotic interest to impress, or put on a show.

The original poster is a moron. He talks of harm, when he should be looking inward before pointing the finger at others!

Er....sort of missing the point, old chap. Kudos on mentioning licencing though.

GUYS I caugfht a red-tailed hawk with a mouse trap and a piece of steak. it was stuck in the trap by the wing since I had put a cluster of them. it wasn't doing too well so I cooked it but it was kind of gross so I only ate a couple bites threw the rest in the garbage. What's a good spice to go with this bird Im planning on catching a couple more this summer.
